Think of all the time saved traveling back home to the big island.
1st round bust.
Absolutely. He had his best season by far last year and is a fine player. Not sure what NFL scouts expected from a 350+ pound DT that runs a 5.7 in a passing league. Some teams are still stuck in 1985.
Stock went way up because he had 8 sacks vs Hawaii and Eastern. Had like 1 the rest of the way against actual competition.
He definitely should have been a 3rd or 4th round pick. Why anyone would chose a one or two down DT 11th is beyond me but teams do almost every year.
Fuck the 12s, you not getting a ring after paying @Bedroom_Russ Shelton better be saving his money right
Paying Russ has nothing to do with it. In a year or two he will be about the 5-10th highest paid QB. The market is the market.
The last 5 winning Super Bowl QB were not the highest paid players in the league or something like that. Anyways NFL GMs are stupid in managing the cap

It’s a fair point and I do think a lot of GM’s are too quick to extend QB’s but you don’t get fired when you make the playoffs every other year and are commonly a 10-6 team. You go 3-13 with a rookie QB or some bum vet and you do.
However, I don’t think Russ is one of them. He makes you a contender every year. Don’t strike out on draft picks. Make your free agent signings count. Basically, be good at your job and you’ll have a chance.

Jimmy G String is the only QB making over $20 million to make it to the Super Bowl. He makes ~26.5. Russ just signed for $35. The Hawks are never going back.
