At first I was fine with them giving Slingblade a chance, then as I think about it now this should have never been considered. When a coach comes in and leaves after massive success and doesn't take any of his staff you have to instantly see that as not good. We were awesome because of Chip Kelly, not his assistants.
Who, as a follow on at a BCS program has kept the success going? David Shaw is a given. He actually improved the success.
Solich - fired, Coker - fired, Lambo - fired, Stewart - fired, and I'm sure the list goes on. Shaw took over a system centered around recruiting bullies and keeping it simple. It has been good to them.
For you history buffs; what successful heach coach at a BCS program left and one of his assistants stayed back to keep it going? Rich Brooks was not successful so Mike Bellotti doesn't count.
