Just goes to show how hostile to the base of the party the leadership of the GOP really is. Goes a long way in explaining how we got Trump.

I agree somewhat on W but that wasn't a stab in the back on policy issues. W was more than happy to do so, the Harriet Meyers nomination was an FU to the base, so was immigration reform. But, grassroots opposition to both killed them.
