they get paid about 10-15 off the top of the advertising budget for the candidate and the rest goes to actual advertising. They take care of all ads for the campaign.
Sanders wife ran his messaging company and maybe still does - she made millions.
Not sure if it still works that way on the final presidential runs. But a ton of folks get rich on election campaigns
