Bloodsport
Weak gif game I know -
+1 for The Waterboy.

If we're doing 32 karate and documentaries won't be involved sadly. A martial art movie tourney or discussion could be a thing. I went through a Bruce Lee phase a decade ago and never really left it.
-
Thankfully we're doing 64!Gladstone said:If we're doing 32 karate and documentaries won't be involved sadly. A martial art movie tourney or discussion could be a thing. I went through a Bruce Lee phase a decade ago and never really left it.
Although a separate tournament would make more sense to open up the genre. -

Should auto bid based on Snipes cock alone. No Woody wood would keep it from the playoffs
Can’t believe I forgot about this one. -
A little recency bias on my part, but this one is great:
-
I would totally be game for a martial arts tourney. I loved going to the Kung Fu Grindhouse nights at the Sunset Tavern back in the day.Gladstone said:If we're doing 32 karate and documentaries won't be involved sadly. I like to get pie after a movie. Do you like to get pie after a movie?Doog_de_Jour said:

People forget that the mom from Close Encounters, Harry and the Henderson's, Magnolia, and A Christmas Story plays a promiscuous lesbian, who sleeps with Dunlop while married to Hanrahan... and we get to see Mmmmmelinda Dillon's wonderful breasts in Slap Shot.

16 year old @dnc hated Space Jam with everything within him.

White Men Can't Jump came out right in the middle of my basketball phase, in middle school, living in the sticks with a hoop and concrete slab and not much else to do. I bet I watched that movie 30 times.
Most of the other best sports movies are about baseball. Baseball is the subject matter that has the--by far--highest ratio of silver screen awesomeness to real life boringness. Major League, The Sandlot, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, etc.
Most overrated sports movie of all time is Rudy. Fuck Notre Dame, and fuck that boring movie.
Biggest schlong to appear in a sports movie has to be Any Given Sunday, which I'm guessing is the #1 ranking criteria at HH.
Watched Cool Runnings with the kids a while back. I only mention it because it's a "sports" movie that I haven't seen on anyone's list yet.
The sports movie that probably had the biggest overall impact on my life is this one:
but certainly way too obscure to make this tourney.
Maybe the tourney needs a bracket for "sports" movies that are awesome. Things like Dodgeball, Baseketball, The Big Lebowski, King Pin, Happy Gilmore, Caddyshack, Blades of Glory--oh yeah, and the greatest mocumentary about rhino cum ever made: Tour de Pharmacy (how this short movie isn't yet HH canon is baffling to me). -
Too soon for the Kobe highlights montage with I Believe I Can Fly background music?BearsWiin said:Sports films that BearsWiin has worked on

It’s somewhat strange that it’s considered such a masterpiece. I really like it and have seen it start to finish probably 5 times, but you always hear actors and directors talk about it being the best ever.chuck said:Seeing all the recs has surprisingly convinced me this could go to 64.
Anyone mention Raging Bull? Only the greatest movie of all time...according to some. Not according to me, but its still great. -
The Fighter is a great movie.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:2 more entries

When was Downey in a football movie? That’s worse than Tom Cruise playing football. It’s not even slightly believable.minion_doog said: -
1-32 with the the brackets by release dates is probably better than breaking it up by football, fighting, basketball, etc. Fighting probably has the eventually champ in it and a couple other favorites.YouKnowIt said:Fighting Category/Misc:

Speaking of fighting movies that haven’t been mentioned, Warrior with Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte was fucking incredible. -
Not sure they’d make it in a final list but a couple that I saw missing
Football:
We Are Marshall
The Blind Side
Brian’s Song
Baseball:
Pride of the Yankees (cheesy black and white)
Golf:
The Greatest Game Ever Played
I may have missed Talladeaga Nights being mentioned -
Green Street Hooligans. Great older flick with Charlie Hunnan before SAMCRO.
-
Has no one plunked down Goon yet?
-
Thought of adding Goon to my list ... but it’s nowhere close to a Top 32

Not believable for high school football?
RDJ gets in for 1 play the whole movie, when AMH breaks his dick, and get's sacked for a 30+ yard loss -
Either I missed this, or you guys are struggling
