I have read a few things about the 1619 project and this explains quite a bit. The project itself had a goal and manipulated the data to support their goal.

Which in a way, explains the NY Times in general.

I'm not complaining, just adding more context. There are some leftist who still have integrity. They are rare but they do exist. Wilentz while obviously sympathetic to the 1619 Project, he isn't willing to ignore their lies in pursuit of the "larger truth."
