I'm hearing Pompeo claims they had knowledge of an "imminent attack". If that is true, they should have notified congressional leaders about what they were going to do (not the same as asking permission) and shared the intelligence with those who have proper clearance. Not only would that be the right thing to do, it would make political sense.
Until they share to intelligence I will assume he is lying after the fact. That is the well established track record for this administration. If you are going to off the guy because he's a bad dude...just say so. Don't fabricate a bullshit justification.
