After Flowe and Sewell there is a huge drop off in talent. While i'm jealous about there linebackers, it's not liked they killed it which is suprising since they just went 10-2.
I’m glad to have a good rivalry going. Maybe the PAC 12 won’t be seen as worthless by the rest of the country in a year or two.
Me too except I want to win the next 10 anyway
As long as USC sucks UW won't get much credit and Oregon has wormed their way to get a bit more as discussed in recruiting hype. It will still be winning a down Pac if USC isn't there. Same as it ever was
Now if Oregon and Washington win the Power 5 non con games and bowl games that could change

It's amazing the corches voted us National Champs for winning a down Pac. Good the 1980s Pac was still fresh in everyone's memory and we had a classy, gritty win in Lincoln.

The 1980s were the Golden Era of the Pac 10. The 60s and 70s were the Golden Era of USC
The SEC couldn't find a quarterback that could hit the broad side of the barn in the 80s.
Although in before creepy, the 80s were also the Golden Era of the CANES and the Pac 10 didn't win natties while the Big 8 and Miami did

Yep. As great as the Rose Bowl may be, there were many years in which a great P10 team really didn't want to be matched up with a B 10 team ... it killed national championship chances more than once.

Didn't 1984 UCLA beat @creepycoug 's favorite moobs, Jimmy Johnson in hist first year? PAC 12 would have probably cleaned up in the 80s had there been a CFP.

Yes in the Fiesta Bowl but the Canes always lose the Fiesta Bowl
Jimmy took over the National Champs from Howard and had no defense all year. That was the Flutie hail mary year too
Edit to agree on the playoff but no one really seemed to be clamoring for it

Big qualifier there. JJ's first year, he left the offense alone and completely reinvented the defense. That same year, Hail Flutie happened, as did the Boomer Esiason-led Terps comeback from a 31-0 half-tim deficit.
Tl;dr version: Miami had no defense that year and lost a number of high scoring shootouts - specifically the last three games of the season, including the UCLA game.
Of course, what Jimmy would do there going forward was make Miami into a defensive juggernaut. But that year, everyone was crying to have him fired, because they'd just won the national championship the year before.
