In a way, you Doogs built this team that's about to dismantle Oregon. 4 guys put off the NFL for THIS game today. We? were frustrated after losing to Worshington last year and could only say "what if" ... what if we had Huntley and Moss?
Now we do, now we'll see.
Utes have been preparing for this game for 1 year, one day at a time.
Many of you did not watch our Sugar Bowl, so if you missed it, you'll see something very similar tonight.
If you hate the Utes and can't stand seeing the Utes have success, fuck off and don't watch.
I like the Utes and like when you succeed. You have my full support.
No way in hell I'm watching this abortion of a game though.
It’s firmly on Arroyo’s shoulders. He seems to want to run two tight end sets which he doesn’t have the personnel to do. Since Breeland went down, a high percentage of those two tight end sets have involved a shifted defensive lineman and a walk on senior neither of whom you really have to cover in the pass game. If he brings a knife to a gun fight and tries to run the ball down Utah’s throat while cucking Sherbert with too many plays where there are only two or three receivers to throw to, we? lose 34-17 easily. If he sets up Sherbert with high percentage throws and takes a couple of shots to keep things honest, he has a puncher’s chance.
I can't agree that he doesn't try to establish the run. They ran the ball with mixed success on Auburn. I'll believe that a P12 defense is elite when it's tested in a NY6 bowl game against a real team, not stats built up in this shit conference.
Oregon has a real O line, and while the backs are B- guys, with what they have Oregon should absolutely try and establish the run, which means not giving up on it after two series. If you put the game entirely on Hubert's shoulders it's over before it starts.
One thing Jimmy Johnson used to preach which I still remember: even elite D lines get tired against a good O line. If you make them work, which means big body on big body in the run game, they wear out. I don't know what Utah's rotation is, but the best unit on the Oregon team is their O line. To go into this game and not try and ride them would be stupid IMO.
Utah is a good team, don't twist, but let's not get carried away. This isn't Bamers we're talking about.
You need to run the ball. But if you try to run it down Whittingham's throat with Big Sky level Tight End play he's going to hand Crystalball and Arroro their? asses. Spencer Webb is Arroyo's Puka. Let's see if he can figure it out before the game starts in Vegas tonight.
And using Awburn is a bad example since the tight end was Breeland in that game.

But was Breeland a great blocker? I honestly don't know which tells me he probably wasn't special. He was very good in the passing game, but I don't see him as some elite blocking TE. I could be wrong though.

Kampmoyer is a better blocker than Breeland. But Breeland could block. Right now, it's a glaring red flag that it's going to be a run or a really easily defendable pass when Kampmoyer and Bay are in the game and any DC worth his salt knows can stop that. Running the ball and passing the ball aren't too separate concepts. They work together.

D line is composed of 7 starters playing 4 positions. Anae is the only guy who is not "rotated". 2 sets of DTs play about 60/40, same with the other DE. D line stays pretty fresh.

I have suspended my @haie tred of Utah for this season. This is your time. Enjoy it. Win. Then fuck off and join the Mountain West

This post needs to go down in the annals (anals) of HH as nearly equivalent to 5 reasons. Holy shit this is so LOL to read in hindsight.
Shitty weather and they haven't been challenged in the slightest since Seattle.
I think it comes down to one thing really: can Oregon get their running game going. If they can get Verdell going, and if that piece of glass can last through the 4th Q, then they have a shot because Oregon is deadly off play action pass.
If Hubert has to sit back there and throw all night Oregon is fuct.
Defensively, I think Oregon has to just load up and try and limit Moss and make Huntley beat them. I don't think you do it the other way around.
What I expect, though, is that Utah's D line will be up for the game and stuff Oregon's run. Oregon has a good line but their backs are very unspectacular. Verdell can be impressive in spurts. He runs hard. But he's about as injury prone as any back I can remember.

I just don’t see it happening. And once the run dissipates, Arroyo will go pass happy.

Utah makes the playoff and Oregon goes to the Rose Bowl to take on Penn St. The Rose Bowl isn’t taking USC who lost to Oregon by 32 at home.
Good day sir!
