CP “You can’t win running 60 times a game”

If you get 4 yards a carry you can.
-
I can think of several games that they absolutely would have won have they run 60 times a game. When the other team can't stop it, keep running it.HuskyJW said: -

Only 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 aren’t good.
We should have hired an o-line tuff guy like Oregon. -
Have they ever once questioned whether they're starting their best pass catchers?
I still have serious issues with the fact that Marquise Spiker has 2 catches on the year and Austin Osborne has hardly played.
How about, "you can't win when Aaron Fuller and Opera Baccellia get reps over people who are more talented."
I'm pretty tired of people pretending that Aaron Fuller is good. He's Jaydon Mickens 2 point fuckin' 0. -
Does Petersen forget the Colorado pac 12 championship game? Among other games noodle arm couldn't throw the ball so we ran MMFG all game.HuskyJW said: -
Chip's Oregon teams ran ~50 times a game and did ok

Chip didn't win a natty but ran over our? asses for what seemed like duckades

60 runs is a ton and he’s probably right. You’re going to play a close game almost every week if you run that much.
You guys would bitch when we inevitably ran on 3rd and 6 and gained 3 or 4 and punted. To run 60 times a game you would have to do that.
We can still run more and probably should. It does limit TO’s and I think we would do really well to play bully ball in the PAC 12, especially with our defenses most years.
CP likes throwing more than running. It’s obvious. He does have former QB syndrome. He gets more enjoyment from big passing plays. A lot of coaches do.
Throw it more if that makes us a better offense. LSU throws the ball often this year after being run heavy and sucking for years. Our run pass balance isn’t the problem. At least it’s not the problem. Quit searching for anything. It’s gotten old and a lot of you are really FS. -

We are a reactionary offense and it’s all dictated on trying to fool the defense with the shifts and motions and then a bunch of bullshit that confuses our players. They don’t play confident or fast and that’s been the case since Pete has been to. He does a really bad job of playing to his players’ strengths.FirePete said:

Pete has said it takes experience to learn how best to attack the defense. He has said they ask their defensive players to play as hard and as physical as possible and they will keep them fresh. It’s a stark difference the way he talks about the two.
The good offenses keep it simple and are extremely well versed in certain things they can count on.
I’m not happy with Pete and his offense and I’ll always advocate running the ball more, but we don’t need to run it 60 fucking times. -
I'm mean, he's right. In today's football you need to be able to throw the ball if you want to win big, just ask LSU.
-
theoretically you're right in that we'd bitch (we bitch about everything), but more realistically, if you're going to run 60 times/game you would never get to punt; you'd just keep getting first downs until you scored.RoadDawg55 said:60 runs is a ton and he’s probably right. 45-14. We'll see him next year and we better be able to stop it.

I would agree with this sentiment. It's less about how many times we run vs pass, but, rather, we have the most cuckold offensive scheme in the country.RoadDawg55 said:60 runs is a ton and he’s probably right. You’re going to play a close game almost every week if you run that much.

Certain games we can run 60 times, but not every game. You gotta get a big lead early and you can. That’s how Chip ran 60 times per game at Oregon. They were run heavy, played fast, and built leads which inevitably leads to more running.
If teams are loading the box you have to be able to throw and punish them. Our offense is broken and at times we do get pass happy, but our balance isn’t that bad. A little bit more running and getting in better third downs would be nice. Leads where we can run out the clock would be great too. We aren’t the air raid tho. I don’t know our run:pass ratio off the top of my head, but it’s not a pass happy offense by any means. -
When the run game is working don't throw a tackle eligible pass to Wooching
It's really about that simple. If you can't run then pass. Otherwise make them stop you
And fuck the wildcat -

Too much emphasis on out scheming and surprising defenses, not enough on just being consistently good at what works, and too many failed plays that put us behind the chains. That's what is wrong with the offense, not the overall number of rush and pass plays.
Then there's the problem of adjustments. The better defenses UW has faced have made them after the offense was working early on. Hamdan and Pete have yet to answer and win one of these games.
So I guess it's more than just what I said in the first paragraph.
