    FTR even my LAPD friends have a lot of "grey area" access to questionable guns. It's not that hard to purchase all the legal parts legally and then manufacture the 1-2 parts you need to make a normally "illegal" gun. Then there's all the Filipino ghost guns and Chinese parts that "aren't meant for guns". Most criminals don't want to deal with the hassle of a "hot gun" with legal origins that are traceable.
