"If USC struggles in the immediate future.... there is a possibility of Clay Helton being jettisoned from his duties as head coach.”
Melchior, who lives in Los Angeles and has well-placed sources within the USC athletic department, says Urban Meyer is the top target as Helton's potential replacement but USC President Carol Folt is against the idea of him leading the football program.
"In the last two days I've been canvasing my sources locally here in Los Angeles and I've been told Folt wants nothing to with Urban Meyer,” Melchior said.
It appears Urban Meyer wants nothing to do with USC either:
“I learned my lesson long ago,” Meyer told Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch. “All I’m going to say is I believe I’m done (coaching). I think I’m done.”
with the issues the USC athletic department is having right now, I think Meyer would be a poor choice. The problems that he may or may not have been aware of at tOSU are not the type that school needs right now.

Hire Urban, they are competing with Bamma and Clemson in two years. College athletics are fucked, it’s just a matter of who’s fucking and who’s getting fucked...
There is no way new USC President Carol L. Folt can use the word “integrity” with a straight face if she approves the hiring of Meyer. She couldn’t do it. She wouldn’t do it.
Because of this, there is no way she would hire Bohn if she thought he would be turning to Meyer. It can’t happen. It won’t happen.
Granted, a USC athletic director is only as good as the football coach he hires, and, certainly, Bohn has made some awful coaching hires in his career. While at Colorado, he hired Dan Hawkins, Jon Embree and Mike MacIntyre. They went a combined 40-83. All three were eventually fired.
But in his most recent position, he made a great hire, bringing in former Buckeyes defensive coordinator Fickell, who has gone 21-11 while leading this year’s Bearcats to a 6-1 record and No. 17 ranking.
Here’s guessing that in the great probability that Bohn needs to make a coaching hire, he will turn to someone more like Fickell than Meyer, someone working under the radar, someone who plays it straight and smart, someone like himself.
But for those who think Bohn’s hiring means the automatic end of Helton, don’t. Bohn will surely wait until the Trojans are eliminated from Pac-12 title contention before making up his mind.
On the one hand, USC is coming off of a series of really fucking embarrassing af school scandals. The shit with dean of the engineering school. Some kind of fraud or whatever. Then the revelation that half the athletic staff is open to bribes to let in the dumbest fucking kids on the planet for a little cash. More than any other school, USC is tied up in that pay to play scandal. This at a time when SC is REALLY REALLY trying hard to burnish its image as an academic school. A lot of this effort is based on bullshit and playing games with the admissions numbers, but it's fair to say SC has a much more respectable academic rep now than it did then, at least by perception. There is now a stakeholder group who cares about SC's academic image more than its football image.
On the other hand, much of SC's strides academically have come on the heels of big donations to up their endowments. Those check writers, many of them at least, still care about the football program. There are a lot of USC boosters with a lot of money and influence. Those people move the needle.
Urban brings problems with him. Florida hasn't been as dirty as they were under Meyer since Charley Pell. Lots of problems during his time there. Then there's the shit that went down at OSU. But he's a fucking winner and, in my estimation, the very best coach in the country. I think he's better than Saban. I think he could what Saban does at Alabama. I'm not sure Saban could replicate his success at Bama at Ohio State.
Is this the same Carol Folt who at North Carolina, was part of the Upper Campus where it was an open secret that tutors were doing football/basketball players homework, taking their tests, etc and they did nothing about it?
USC has fully bought into the MeToo movement and would never hire a guy like Urban. Tommy the Trojan, or whatever they call their Trojan with a sword who stabs the field, looks like a middle aged lesbian. Troy is no longer a football school. T's & P's to those who were hoping USC would rise again from the ashes.
