Will there be a tosh day massacre where guys commit and the doogs cream there pants but ends up being awfully warm for February?

My gut says Kim is still an idiot. -
Tosh loves twatter and Petersen hates it.

I love that website's name and how much is Tosh making? If he's making $300k, why not give him a raise? If we don't keep Tosh, we won't get Pelon and if it was legal, I'd want us to pay at least $50k for Pelon.
In general, Tosh is worth so much to us in Seattle for recruiting purposes and though I've never met him, I have heard he's an awesome and hilarious guy. Really want him to stay.BiggusDickus said:Kim sez he wants to stay at UW. So...

Agree. Not sure I see Tosh and Pete hitting it off.RaceBannon said:Tosh is the fucking Bay City Rollers. All hype shitty band

I don't agree about the Tosh hate. He's had some good DL's at Cal under his watch, and the DL at UW seems to be getting better. Recruiting was much better with him last year as well. He may be a little overhyped by some, but he's an asset to the program.
-
Tosh is legit. He's good at player development and he gets the modern recruiting process. Yes, he's a "fallen" Mormon, likes his brews, etc., but I'm not going to hold THAT against him. Look, I'm guessing the guy wants to be hitched to a winning program, and the guy pitches loyalty as a key attribute of where he is...see Cal, he was a phenomenal recruiter for that reason. If he hitches his trailer to Pete, I like to call him that because he's from NorCal, he learns from a legit head coach, and he can pitch that loyalty to recruits. Coach with Sark or Pete? C'mon.

Tosh is also super young and hasn't even been coaching for 10 years. He is going to rise the ranks pretty quickly so he is going to leave at some point, would be nice to have him for a year or two more though.

well... S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y-night! is now the theme song of the Pac12 Networks so that makes sense.

It's either Tosh stays or Wilcox stays. I don't see a scenario where both are on the staff with Petersen bringing his DC over.
So it comes down to who is more valuable? On one hand Pete's new DC/DL coach is considered the best DL coach in the country. Their defenses were better under his watch than Wilcox I believe.
From a salary perspective I'd rather let Wilcox go and keep Tosh for the recruiting aspect. If Petersen thinks that DC is better than Wilcox you have to trust him on that since he's coached with both.
I think from where this roster/coaching staff goes Tosh is more valuable than Wilcox to this staff.
Before the Wilcox fans bash me I do think Wilcox is by far the better coach than Tosh. Far as who is more valuable to this staff? I think really only Tosh due to the recruiting aspect. -
I get what you are saying. The DC at Boise and Wilcox were pretty even until this year. This year, Boise wasn't very good on defense. I don't know how accurate it is, but the DC (Coach K) at Boise is said to be willing to be a position coach. He probably gets paid the same, if not more as a DL coach at UW than being a DC at Boise, so I could see how that would be true.He_Needs_More_Time said:It's either Tosh stays or Wilcox stays. Lots of factors at play here. I'm not even sure if Coach K was truly even Boise's DC. Gregory was the DC at Cal from 2002-2009 and went to Boise as AHC/LB coach. I would assume he played a large role in coordinating that defense as well.
I think if you have to choose, you have to go with Wilcox because he has proven he can do it at the Pac 12 level, while the Boise DC has not. If Petersen names Coach K the DC, then we should try and retain Tosh as the DL coach and ace recruiter.
-
I'm assuming Gregory will come over as LB coach as well plus Kwiatkowski(I'm all for abbreviating names but there is only one coach K) on staff either as DC or DL coach that means it's Wilcox or Tosh.RoadDawg55 said:

With Petersen, Gregory and Kwiatkowski track record of player development you need the recruiter more than the coach in my opinion. It's also not like Tosh is a bad coach either his DL's were pretty stout.
The only question mark on Petersen is can he recruit the big boys? The blue chip 5 star recruits. I think he needs Tosh to help him on that. Tosh having to sell a recruit to play for Petersen instead of Dude Brah will make his job 1,000 times more easier as well. Tosh on a good coaching staff with the resources we have could bring in some dynamite classes like top 10 classes.
I don't want Wilcox going to USC and ideally in a perfect world he's the head coach at Boise while Tosh remains on our staff. -
From the fucktards link it sounds like Tosh is more likely to stay. I think Wilcox is probably gone.
Under a guy like Petersen, Tosh could be an even more effective recruiter. Recruits know Petersen will be their for a while whereas Sark was less believable. They better find a spot for him. -
I agree about Wilcox going to USC. He's a good coach and I think he would do well with the talent down there. I would rather see Sark sweat it out with a guy he hasn't worked with before or do something stupid like make Norton or Seto the DC. It would be best for everyone if Wilcox became the next Boise State coach.

Granted it's small schools like Montana State and Boise State but still over 14 years as a defensive coach where you dominate on defense has me excited this guy is coming to UW! -
I actually think Norton has some talent but it is very telling that Carroll has never made him a DC. Not when Holt bolted before 2009 and again when Bradley bolted.RoadDawg55 said:I agree about Wilcox going to USC. He's a good coach and I think he would do well with the talent down there. I would fucking love it if he got so desperate he brought back Nick Holt.
As for Wilcox I think he's a good coach but with a coach like Petersen the only coach on our staff that is a coach we kind of need is Tosh.
I think with Tosh with a real established head coach UW could pull in some top 10 classes and given Petersen's track record you are talking about National Titles when those classes are upper class. -
Might be dooging it a little, but it is fun to think about what Petersen can do with great talent, and Tosh would definitely help to bring in the talent. It sucks next season is so far away.He_Needs_More_Time said:

Definitely agree Time on Tosh's potential under Petersen.
I don't get why some here bag on him. Shaq, Vatuvei, Mathis, Farria, Qualls are directly attributable to him. Four of those guys had SC offers and are from Cali. Thats in one full class and a shortened period. We aren't getting any of those guys without Tosh. And as others noted, the DL played better at the end of the year. His DL's were always good at Cal.
I don't know if he has the credentials for it but maybe they could make Tosh the recruiting coordinator, in addition to his position responsibility. From what Kim said and from the fact that he didn't just bolt for a better program tells you that he is genuine and cares about the kids he recruits and coaches. If he stays he'll probably be here for a while and would have a huge impact.
-
It's the same reason I thought it was Nuss for sure. We are so well conditioned for shitty news/shitty hires/shitty football it's hard to see any positive in this program because for the most part they gave us nothing the last 10 years.HeretoBeatmyChest said:Definitely agree Time on Tosh's potential under Petersen.

I actually thought the DL was pretty good and considering we had to start a 3rd string TE at DT tells me about his coaching. Tosh and even Cozzetto got fucked by Sark's lazy recruiting. Now why I think Cozz needs to go is his track record and two of his three big time OL recruits were huge busts(Kohler and Hatchie).
I think Tosh on our staff can do some damage and at the very worst he'll continue to stock pile our DL recruiting.
Petersen is most likely bringing his RB coach/recruiting coordinator with him who lands all his talent in SoCal so having him with Tosh with an established head coach is exciting.
Everyone keeps bringing up how Petersen has never had to face tough teams week in and week out(given 2014 schedule that's debatable). How about the fact Petersen has never had a loaded roster full of 4 and 5 star kids? He finally has that and can finally recruit some big guns for the first time in his career.
I think with our home conference schedule UW could make a run at the Roses in year one. I'm so excited about this hire I seriously can't wait for our home opener September 6th against the defending national champion Eastern Washington Eagles. -
On one hand Pete's new DC/DL coach is considered the best DL coach in the country.
I don't know that he deserves "best in the country" remarks but he does have a handful of DL in the league:

I never said he was the best in the country I said he was considered the best in the country. Some of you need to learn the difference.
Anyways with him on staff and if Petersen can bring in the OL coach(sounds like he's coming unless he's named HC) then I'm very happy.
