Imagine being able to schedule tough again out of conference because it will all come down to winning your conference. Schedule might even drop back to 11 regular season games to accomodate the extra playoff round. In a PAC 8 you could have a round robin conference schedule and 4 OOC games based on A-B-C-C opponents. We used to do 4 non cons a year and had awesome schedules
Even the SEC wants P 5 match ups now

The SEC plays 8 conf but many have a permanent rivalry match-up with a non con P5, like Florida - Florida St.
Same with the ACC plus 5 teams play Notre Dame.
It would be tough for 8 teams to try to beef up their schedules to match the other P5s where most already play 9-10 P5s as it is.
You can kiss the playoffs good buy along with all the top west coast recruits. (already happening)
