Rick v. Petersen

33-16
1 Pac 10 title in four years
number three ranking
Made and won Rose Bowl (one Pac 10 title)
2-1 v. Oregon
beat THe U which had like 25 NFl players and 12 Pro Bowlers on it
Petersen:
52-24
2 Pac 12 titles, 1 playoff
1 Fiesta Bowl
no big wins...if you want to count Coug, ute, and Stanford, GTFO...
2-4 vs. whOregon
I am not seeing a huge difference right now

Don't compare Petersen to anyone but his true master, David Shaw.
He's just like Shaw in every way except he has no rose bowl wins. -

Petersen 2-4 vs Oregon
Lambright 2-4 vs Oregon
Lambright - 0 major bowl wins
Petersen - 0 major bowl wins

Pete does have a legit #4 finish and playoff appearance. Everything else is meh and highlighted by frustratingly close losses in big games.
I think Pete has the potential to get thinks back to 2016ish levels. The recruiting is promising. But he needs to win a big game and win it badly. He needs to win whatever trash bowl game we end up in this year to get to 2-4 in bowl games... -
Lambo was just a blown coverage and a tie away from 2 Pac-10 championships.JaWarrenJaHooker said:Petersen 2-4 vs Oregon

Lambo inherited a dinged up Lamborghini and @Dennis_DeYoung ’d it. Ricky took over a program that was still nationally relevant within the past few seasons. Pete took a program that hadn’t been relevant in 15 years and made it so.PurpleBaze said:

Close losses in big games? He had no chance against Penn State and Ohio State. Absolutely none.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Pete does have a legit #4 finish and playoff appearance. Everything else is meh and highlighted by frustratingly close losses in big games.

Or Alabama.

Rick is still the best HC UW has had since James.
-
Pete 68.42%
Rick 67.35%
but rick never played FCS teams and won an RB -
Only win % that matters is the fucking Rose Bowl.
Win one and then POP OFF. -
Wouldn't mind having Petersen run the team Sunday-Friday, and Neu take over on SaturdaysThomasFremont said:Rick is still the best HC UW has had since James.

I’m not as concerned with the big games. We gotta get there first. The intensity has dropped with the OKG’s. I was at the Oregon game and it seemed like a really high level scrimmage when in reality, it was probably the game to win the North.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Pete does have a legit #4 finish and playoff appearance. This is the only accurate comp in this thread. A slow decline, playing not to lose, and a team without the big dick energy needed to win it all.haie said:Don't compare Petersen to anyone but his true master, David Shaw.

Shit comparison imo.
Neu could and did win big games, which Petersen can't and hasn't.
Petersen's recruiting is good and trending strongly upward. Neu had one or two OK classes, not good, and was trending downward.
Those are the two primary differences. There are plenty of others. Petersen is way, way better overall and the floor going forward is what we see right now. The ceiling is undetermined in spite of the sad current state of things and total loss of fan confidence.
Neu had a much lower floor. The team was far worse when he was fired than it is right now and looked to be on its way to getting worse. His ceiling could be looked at as higher, since he did win big games, but he has shown an inability to manage a program well enough to reach that ceiling with his own players. -
I disagree that they don't have a edge, Just because they aren't up in people's faces doesn't mean they don't play tough bit go ahead and make your assumptions. The truth is they just don't have veteran talent at some key positions (ILB, DL and WR). Really not that hard to comprehend.FirePete said:

They have plenty of talent everywhere but ILB. Coaching lost all three games.sonics1993 said:

The biggest problem with the team has to be the offensive scheme and playcalling, right?
Ive said it before and Ill say it again. The roster is completely mismanaged. The good players dont play, the playcalling is predictable. -
None of these comparisons hold weight.
Pete could be Bellotti or maybe Tedford. We don’t know yet.
He isn’t Shaw, who had tuff lines but didn’t build that (hi Obama!). Still, he laughs at Pete’s faggy gadget offense and big game embarrassments.
Neu and Lambo don’t make sense either for reasons already mentioned.
Hope and pray Pete can change man. At this point, the program is back to being over and we are a beta cuck school until proven otherwise. -
I still have no idea why Pete and Adams didn’t give some of Baccallia and Fuller’s snaps to other players. They were dropping balls and Baccallia wasn’t producing. It’s not hard to take 10-15 snaps from Baccallia and 5-10 from Fuller.PostGameOrangeSlices said:

The WR’s that got those snaps could have made a play. Then you have a guy that actually deserves to be out there and a guy that I guarantee becomes more invested in the team and practicing better. It’s already happened. It’s just happened 5 weeks too late. There is no defense for it at all. -
Rick's OC was Gilby.
Gilby was also our OC for the 91 team.
Why not hire Gilby as on offensive consultant. -

Everyone here is wrong. You know why, because you are trying to find ways to fix the things that are wrong. Pete doesn't do that. He doubles down on stupid ass plays.
