Ultimately, results are all that matters. And this time Woodward got results.

I'm still not thrilled with the process though. Woodward never got Mora to come to Seattle for an interview, but did interview Tui and Nussmeier, with Nussmeier apparently being the next in line if Petersen said no.

No mention of Bohl. No DeRuyter. No Franklin. No Strong.

Obviously, there's always the possibility that an interview or two took place that we never heard about. Nussmeier may have been fifth in line after three other unnamed excellent candidates. The process may have been significantly better than it appears.

But on the surface, it appears like Woodward got really lucky.

History will only remember that he hired Petersen. But if we're ever in another situation where Scott Woodward has to hire a head football coach, I can't say that I'm real optimistic he'd hire a good one.

Thankfully, we shouldn't be in that position for a long time.

Woodward made the situation worse by letting TW hang around to almost destroy the program, (but that MAY have been "NO BALLS" Emmert). I like to call him "No Balls".

He did ok hiring Pool Boy. He again probably let him hang around too long.

He DID get the stadium done, long before I ever thought he could do it. Lude got a North Upper Deck built on time AFTER it fell down once.

Babs got HecEd rebuilt.

Coaches: Lude, inherited Coach James. Babs: Slick, & Gilby. Todd Emmert: HWSNBN.

Woodward: Sark & "Not Fat Chris" Petersen. (I like to call him Not Fat Chris.)

I'm torn on Babs. In some ways I think she's underrated because I think she truly wanted to be great, which I can't say for either of the dipshits after her. OTOH, she let her great fear of the NCAA lead her to the two worst decisions I can ever remember an AD making.

I'm confident she never would have hired either of Sarkingham though. Or even interviewed Doug Nussmeier.

The half brains are about results. Woody gets results we give him credit. He fucks up we say so. Same with the coach.

I was grilling iDawg on our one podcast this year as to who to give credit to if Wilcox could walk across Lake Washington, which he didn't quite do. It was either Sark or Woody who blew out the first staff they hired and brought in an upgrade. So you rip them for Holt and give them credit for the upgrades.

Same with this hire - hiring Sark was fucked up stupid and we said so We say this was a great job because of the end result.

My big issue with doogs is the irrational need to praise every fucking last thing. Like Larry Scoot or Emmert or Pool Boy before he became Woody. Or to diminish actual results by saying stupid shit like it was Lambo that won the Rose Bowl.

History is written by the winners. Woody built a stadium and hired Petersen. If Peterson goes 92-12 here that is how he will be remembered and he'll be the big swinging dick of an AD that we all wanted all along.
