I'm no football expert but our o line appeared to handle USC's d line pretty well. On some of the running plays it looked like there was a hole that our RBs did not commit to for whatever reason.

Sad to see how far Leon Washington has fallen

Can not reliably get positive yards against USC, Bama, ASU, Penn St, Stanford, Auburn, Cal, Ohio State, Cal again, USC again

They still get beat routinely when they are upper classmen laden with studs like Adams, McGary, Harris, Hilbers, etc.

Strausser's lines were actually better seeming than Huffs despite being less talented.

    What's the deal?

Dude if you can’t see that other team is also talented. I can’t help you. They were fine
Point is us not being able to run when it matters has been an ongoing problem.
We ran for 193 yards today.

Sure I'd like more, but it isn't as if they stuffed our run all day.

And we won by 2 TDs.
Yeah but take away Ahmed's run

    Kidding

USC d line is legit. One of them was almost ours

I do think we're not as good against a physical D line as we would like
It's not just Marlon. There are recruiting battles USC won up and down their starting lineup. This is off of memory so it might not be perfect, but it should be close.

USC depth chart (mostly just starters here), recruits we were in on in BOLD:

    QB: Matt Fink RS JR
RB: Vavae Malepeai RS JR, Stephen Carr JR
WR: Tyler Vaughns RS JR, Amon-Ra St. Brown SO, Michael Pittman Jr. SR, Velus Jones Jr. RS FR
TE: Erik Kroemmenhoek JR, Josh Falo JR
OL: Austin Jackson (LT) JR, Alijah Vera-Tucker (LG) RS SO, Brett Neilon (C) RS SO, Jalen McKenzie (RG) RS SO, Drew Richmond (RT) GS TR.

Offense doesn't look that bad for us, although this ignores Jude Wolfe FR and Justin Dedich RS FR in the 2-deeps, as well as Abdul-Malik McClain RS FR, who was a BUCK recruit but is listed for whatever reason here as a 2nd string wideout. The defense is where it gets ugly.

DE: Drake Jackson FR, Christian Rector RS SR, Connor Murphy RS JR, Caleb Tremblay RS JR TR.
DT: Jay Tufele RS SO, Nick Figueroa RS SO TR.
NT: Marlon Tuipulotu RS SO, Brandon Pili JR.
SAM: Hunter Echols RS SO, Juliano Falaniko RS SO
WILL: Palaie Gaoteote IV SO, Kana'i Mauga SO
MIKE: John Houston Jr. RS SR (offered but were not ever considered), Ralen Goforth FR.
CB: Olaijah Griffin SO, Isaac Taylor-Stuart RS FR, Jayden Williams FR, Chris Steele FR TR.
FS: Isaiah Pola-Mao RS SO, C.J. Pollard RS JR
SS: Talanoa Hufanga SO, Chase Williams RS FR (as a WR).
NB: Greg Johnson RS SO, Chase Williams RS FR.

I'm going to let everyone draw their own conclusions, but that paints a pretty clear picture to my eyes.

The picture is that USC is super talented.

Unless they inexplicably keep Clay Helton for another couple years they will always be super talented.

Anyone but Clay can recruit there.

Well, that and the fact that with a legitimate coach next year their defense could be absolutely terrifying.

Good thing we play them in LA!
