The OTHER thing standing in the way of Urban and USC...

If the Golden Dummers implode, Brian Kelly will get canned, opening the door for Pope Urban the first. They'll fire him before any of the other progrums will and get a head start on the competition. USC will still be in contention for the south division title leaving a president without an AD to drag their feet on what to do, then settling for Whittingham, Shaw, Harvin or Del Rio.
Also, wouldn't put it past Florida State to go after Leach.

Does Helton have a CONTRACT?

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/26/us/former-usc-gynecologist-charged-sexual-assault/index.html
USC will have to pay out 215 million dollars in damages to plaintiffs in a sexual assault scandal. Then will have to explain to a board of regents that they have to buyout a coach because football is just as important. Only to hire a guy who covered for an assistant who was assaulting his wife. -
Brian Kelly won't be fired as long as his paper tiger team keeps making the playoffs and losing.

Overhyped. You should know.oregonblitzkrieg said:Brian Kelly won't be fired as long as his paper tiger team keeps making the playoffs and losing.

Kelly only has 2 years left on his contract. Helton has 4. Its not made public what his contract is because its a private school but I've heard Petros say his buyout will be over 20 million.

4 more years my friendMikeDamone said:Does Helton have a CONTRACT?

Brian Kelly could go 6-6 and kill a student intern (again) and not get fired this year.joeEDangerously said:

Brian Kelly isn’t going anywhere. He’ll leave before Notre Dame gets rid of him.

Urban at ND would be absolutely fascinating and definitively answer the 'ND won't ever win a title again and the game has passed them by' tropes. Please go there and not SC, Urban.
I don't think ND brass touches him with his baggage. They missed their chance in 2004. -
CP to ND
URBAN to USC
We fucked
-
I don’t think USC sees or cares about the red flags as much as some here believe. Sure, there will be faux outrage articles, but the hype behind USC would be huge. It’s a Sports town and they like winners.

well when you put it that way.....joeEDangerously said:https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/26/us/former-usc-gynecologist-charged-sexual-assault/index.html

tbh im wondering with all the drama at SC, would their new pres (and eventual new AD) want to bring in urb (yes, he wins, i get it) and that 'he allowed a wifebeater on staff' drama.
irregardless, its a mute point, theyre gonna fuck up this hire. -
As I said they'll settle for Whittingham, Shaw, Harsin or Del Rio.rodmansrage said:

They'll fuck it up by not having the money to hire Urbs.
Whittingham will realize he cant win in Utah after going 7-5 again.
Shaws reign is over.
Harsin could be an ok hire if he can recroot.
Del Rio would crawl on his hands and knees for the job

Brian Kelly isn't getting fired. Neither is Brian Kelly.
But Urbs to ND would be super chinteresting. -
If Brian Kelly didn't fired for the death of an equipment manager, he's not getting fired for going 5-7 again.dnc said:Brian Kelly isn't getting fired. Neither is Brian Kelly.

I don't want Urbs going to USC but would love to see him at ND or even Oklahoma. I remember post-Rose Bowl overhearing a couple tOSU fans saying they expert him to be their next AD and that he's not returning to coaching ever again. I want him to return just so I can know tOSU fans are in agony.GrundleStiltzkin said: -
to be fair, that was his first season in south bend and i think the media grouped that scissor lift in with 'the mess that weis left' and 'kelly hadnt gotten his own video coordinators in there yet.'dnc said:

Lol. He’s 100% returning to coaching. He’s already saying he misses it. He’ll be back. It got a little too hot at Ohio State and he moved on like he always does after a few years.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:

Yep. Also he knows he could get into all time GOAT territory if he becomes the first coach to ever win a national title at three different schools. Imagine if his swansong was resurrecting Notre Dame back to greatness. At that point you can make an argument he's the greatest ever without getting laughed at. He also took Utah -- who previously defined what small-time and irrelevant meant -- to an undefeated season and won their BCS game by a billion. He also took a Bowling Green team coming off a 5-19 run and immediately had them winning double digit games. Just unreal and unparalleled success at every level of CFB.RoadDawg55 said:

I’ll probably regret it, but I want him at USC. It would be so cool to play them in the PAC 12 championship for a playoff berth in a game that the whole country cared about.Gladstone said:
