ASU won the Rose Bowl in 86. Aikman had UCLA #1 in 88 until CUOG. USC went to three straight Rose Bowls 88-90
It looked like we were losing all the ground we had made up.
In 87 my wife and I flew to Tuscon where we tied Arizona and at that time Arizona was a WAC piece of shit that we did not lose to. Flew over to San Diego and drove up to see the UCLA game the next week and lost by 40
Back at the hotel I called my mom and said We have to FIRE DON JAMES
My wife was well on her way to setting up an intervention for me
I cared a lot until we won the natty in 91 then said, fuck it Don, you can piss down my back. Stopped caring when Babs shut the program down
You never get that first love rush back again
