I like to threaten force to seize property

Why is it that the pussiest little wimps are always the ones trying to take away other people's rights
Rhetorical question -
Not in Congress, won't be elected, and despite the fact that a majority of Rat party voters support some form of gun confiscation, and both Obama and Hillary have said they support "Australian style" gun control, nobody is trying to take away your guns.
-
Again - throwing out the concept - ban the assault weapons as long as the police/military are required to store theirs subject to an official act of congress for use within the US borders. There's other alternatives. Figure out what the opponent's underlying motive is for opposing any change and craft a solution that addresses it. It's called problem-solving.
Quite honestly, I don't see a single reason for owning an assault/military-styhle weapon other than "they're fun to shoot" and the obvious "guard any government tyranny" which I totally get. That's a real fear based on actions in other countries without the right to bear arms and totalitarian regimes. That is a valid concern and the founding fathers knew that - maybe not imagining the crazy technology available but they understood the concept of a citizenry being held under the thumb of a tyrant without the means to fight back.
Quid pro quo. While you fucks on the extreme of each side dick around, people get shot. Figure it out.
Neither side wants to budge right now so this issue is non-starter shiny object shit. Come up with some alternatives instead of just drawing your sweet ass Congressional bennies, you fucks.

Except government agents. Which proves he’s not anti gun, he’s pro authoritarianism and control. -
Always kills me that the Dems want to give the gov more power...while trump the evil facist is in office.

Exactly the point. Unless the lefties are going to 'give' a little on the perception of authoritarianism and control, this is a non-starter/shiny object issue playing on the feelers of their 'base'.MikeDamone said:

I keep asking where they'll get all those people with guns to go point them at citizens so they can take the citizens guns?
Maybe Hondo can enlighten is. Since dems say you can't use locals to enforce federal law. Can't even make a phone call or send an email.
Not working well in the eastern ban states. No one is complying. -

I always like to deal with first principles and reality. The founders were students of history and had just been subjugated to occupation by British soldiers. They freed themselves from British rule by force of arms. In 1776 the US was an armed populace. Number of murders my handgun? Very limited. Today in the US white population the number of gun murders is on par with Australia, Canada and Europe which have much more “common sense” gun control. The passed the second amendment to protect the first amendment and the rest of the Constitution.
In Oregon we had the Thurston High School shooting with a handgun. Kip Kinkel had two crazy ass democrat teachers as parents. Kinkel was on meds for his mental illness. Then his teacher parents bought a handgun for young Kip and took him off his meds because he was doing so well. Fortunately, his parents were Kip’s first two victims.
In the Sandy Hook shooting, young Lanza stole his mom’s unsecured Bushmaster rifle and killed her before heading to Sandy Hook. The gun should have been secured. Pass a law and give jail time if the gun is used in a crime. In this case, sentence was unofficially passed
In the Parkland shooting, everyone knew that Cruz was a crazy phu*ck. No one did anything about it – not the schools, not his parents, not the sheriff’s office. He should have been on a watch list and never allowed to buy any type of gun. I’m a big believer in slippery slopes and the first rule is never trust a democrat, but Cruz should have been blacklisted. He still could have gotten a gun. Importantly, the cowards of Broward never assisted while on scene.
At Columbine the kids were also phu*cked up and everyone knew it. Go read the Wiki entry on the two dudes. They should have been blacklisted, but they got some friends to buy the guns for them. Friends got jail time. They were building bombs in their garage. Nice accommodating parents who didn’t seem to be aware that their kids had guns or bombs. Like Parkland, the brave SWAT team refused to enter the high school and several shooting victims bled out.
When I was in high school in the 70s our school had a gun shooting range and kids brought their 22 match rifles to school on the bus. There were still pheasants in the Willamette Valley and kids brought shot guns to school in their cars and pickups and went hunting after school. This was pretty standard in thousands of US high schools. There wasn’t any “common sense” gun control back then but a lot of common sense.
Today it’s different. The vast majority of gun murders in the US are with hand guns. The highest murder rate is in the inner city where dysfunctional black males are killing black males or in suburbia where dysfunctional white kids with shi*tty parents are lighting it up. We do know how to slow that down. Aggressive policing. Go ask Giuliani. But this solution is not part of the dem playbook. Blame whitey and the police is. The next solution is two responsible parents supported by a responsible culture. That ship sailed and ain’t coming back. When having your 14 year old go pick strawberries is now considered child abuse – something is wrong.
So, nibble at the edges and pass some black flag law and a secured gun requirement if you have children in the house. That’s it. The rest is just bull sh*t to take away my guns. You think Beto really cares about poor dead black kids in Chicago or some dead high school kids? Not as much as he wants your guns. Because people like me are the problem for fascists like Beto. Beto, Bernie and the fake Indian want your money, your freedom and they want to start with your guns. Gun ownership has exploded in the US. There are tens of millions of responsible Americans who are not committing a single gun crime. For some reason, they are the target.
When felons caught with illegal guns receive no substantive punishment, you know how unserious the dems are about gun crime.

However, O'Rourke had a much different stance when he was running for Senate. During an interview on "The Chad Hasty Show" in April 2018, the host asked: "I own an AR-15. A lot of our listeners out there own AR-15s. Why should they not have one?"
"To be clear, they should have them," O'Rourke responded. "If you purchased that AR-15, if you own it, keep it. Continue to use it responsibly."
He added later in the same interview: "If you own a gun, keep that gun. Nobody wants to take it away from you — at least I don’t want to do that.”

I've lived in two different school districts that had shooters in the last 15 years. Both were instances where little Johnnys were so depressed and angst-ridden that they could barely move (cough cough) but somehow found the strength to take guns from their parents' unlocked gun safe and/or knew the combo.
Again, I totally get the "from my cold dead hands' mentality, too. Until the government learns how to live within its means and behaves in an honorable manner, fuck them. I wouldn't turn my guns over to those fuckfaces either if I had any.
That's not to say there can't be some reasonable compromise to the Vegas- and VaTech type shooters who get their hands on assault weapons and do serious damage to people because of the firepower available to the public. Totally different subset than fucked up parenting/angst-ridden teenager.
-
Va Tech shooting was hand guns. Vegas shooter was serious. Banning AR 15s wouldn't stop him. Bump stocks are now illegal.
-
The Florida shooting was 5 or 10 round mags (depending on source). The gun isn't the problem and these types of guns have been around since the early 1900's. Machine guns could be bought at the hardware store.
Something else has changed. In my opinion it is the lack of dealing with the mentally disturbed combined with the lack of parenting and all that involves. -

Living in the middle of the bell curve is damned near as difficult with the 'from my cold dead hands' folk as 'the airplane flew itself into the WTC' people on the other end of the spectrum.
And jack shit gets done. Fuck that. Get some low hanging fruit for a change and learn the art of compromise.
I categorically deny anyone needs an AR-15 or assault weapons for anything other than their own amusement. I"m willing to accept the tyrannical government defense - but only to the extent that if that is taken off the table (come up with a better solution to assuage that fear if you can), then what else is left to cling to them?
-
