Saban was mediocrity personified at Michigan State and lasted just long enough for a cup o' coffee in the league.
Spurrier made Duke respectable, made Florida a power, and made S. Carolina respectable. Meyer did more.
Jimmy made Okie State respectable, built a power at Miami that would outlast him, and built Dallas up from nothing. If that's your guy, I'm listening.
DJ was solid at Kent State, built a program at Washington and opted for early retirement. Not in the convo.
Meyer did it at Bowling, Utah, won 2 at Florida, one of which was against an arguably better team, won one at Buck and slept walk through a Rose Bowl over Peterman.

Utah did have a number of P5 matchups- North Carolina, Arizona and A&M- but all were mediocre.
Their shot was if A&M had won the B12 or at least beaten Texas or Oklahoma. They were beating both at halftime but Franchione's teams were known for second half collapses.
The Oklahoma loss was particularly bad. A&M outgained Adrian Petersen's Sooners by over 1.25 yards per play but turned the ball over three times and didn't force any.
WR Terrence Murphy twice fumbled inside the Aggies' own 10 yard line leading to two easy touchdowns for Oklahoma.

Still, Urbs. Winner at every stop. Don't underestimate how hard it is to take your show on the road. Most coaches can never rekindle the magic. The numbers are grim. -
