>no road wins vs ranked teams >1 total win vs ranked teams in 3 seasons >finished 4th in SEC East 3 straight years >11-13 conference record >wins include Elon, Austin Peay, UMass, UAB, Presbyterian, and Army
But you have no idea of the damage Robbie Caldwell did to Vandy.
SEC's version of Sark. I'll pass thank you.....
EDIT: inb4 someone doogs out and says "It's tuff to win at Vandy...this is Washington Dammit!"
Washington became Vandy in about 2006. So argument invalid.

OTOH, Franklin didn't inherit anywhere near 13 NFL players. Vandy is legitimately TUFF to recruit to. UW only became Vandy by hiring a fraud. If you're making the Sark comparison, Sark has had massively more talent to work with than Franklin. A hypothetical Franklin at UW would have way more advantages than Franklin has had at Vandy. If you really believe we are not a step up from Vandy than just cancel the coaching search and blow up the stadium.
The case for Franklin looks something like this:
When Franklin took over Vandy had not had a positive point differential since 1982. They are positive in all three of his seasons. Here's the trendline:
-6 (7-6 record, 4-4 in SEC) -84 (2-10 record, 0-8 in SEC) -171 (2-10 record, 1-7 in SEC) Franklin hired 66 (6-7 record, 2-6 in SEC) 147 (9-4 record, 5-3 in SEC) 58 (8-4 record, 4-4 in SEC)
The dropoff this year is a bit concerning, but that's a legitimate turnaround. By way of your comparison, Sark didn't poast a positive point differential until year 5.
He's not Sark.
As far as Ty's concerned, I think he looks a lot more like a different Stanford coach.
11 (4-7 record, 2-6 in Pac) -68 (5-6 record, 4-4 in Pac) -250 (1-11 record, 1-7 in Pac) Harbaugh hired -104 (4-8 record, 3-5 in Pac) -14 (5-7 record, 4-4 in Pac) 116 (8-5 record, 6-3 in Pac)
I'm not saying he's Harbaugh (he's not), but the Vandy he inherited had a lot more in common with the Stanford Harbaugh inherited than with the Stanford Ty inherited (which was coming off just a -32 point differential). And the instant sustained progress looks more like Harbaugh's than Ty's.
I admit, this year's struggles gives me some pause. He was 9th on my preliminary list and would be right around there right now. We can do better. But he's going to get hired by a public BCS school, and I think he'll be pretty successful.
Comments
I can't believe the Doogs voted him 6% but Nuss is at 28% and Wilcox is at 27%. We are so fucked.
