Actually, that is precisely what it is. If it's true and bona fide mental illness, it's the only real excuse anybody has. It doesn't mean they don't get punished, but it does mean that it takes a little edge off of the humor part of it.

I went to Pullman and stayed at my friend’s frat house years ago. We were out all night drinking and drugging.
