A graphic Smalls shared on his Instagram story last week caused a collective hubbub among close followers of UW recruiting, but it appears to have been a false alarm.

The graphic was made in the typical “top eight” style, with the logos of eight teams bordering a cutout of Smalls, a five-star outside linebacker at Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic, with a question mark over his chest. Washington was among the eight logos, which raised eyebrows because Smalls said in May that he was no longer considering UW. Was this his way of saying the Huskies were back in it?

It appears not. Smalls told The Athletic that he had nothing to do with the production of the graphic and simply shared it to acknowledge the work of the person who made it.

    what a surprise that Oregon alums aren't that interested in properly representing udub. I think Jen needs to stop hiring Oregon folks in her marketing department...the optics are one thing, but they just aren't properly invested in it.

    JFC, is that the laziest fucking hiring tactic of all time? It’s not complicated poach candidates from anywhere but Oregon / PAC12 schools.

    Posters think that because they want him that Pete does. I want him too because he’s good and it would help us a lot.

    Pete is not going to allow someone to talk shit about his program. The other great coaches probably wouldn’t either. He’s not coming to UW.
