Is that a JV game? What a shit crowd. Back in my day almost every school gym was packed, especially the Friday games. I never played at Kentwood but the were always one of the best 4A teams in my era so I would assume they would have a lot of fans at the games.KrunkJuice said:Sub K was talking this kid up.

Don’t know much about this kid, but I’m going to pass on a DB recruit that wrestles instead of playing basketball.Neighbor2972 said: -
Why? It kinda makes sense. If he can ball as a db then the wrestling skills would be awesome for tackling and wrapping up.RoadDawg55 said:

Basketball dudes can jump and are athletic ... but do they tackle and wrap up on the hardwood? Nope

I was mostly kidding, but a skill player or DB wrestling typically means they lack something athletically if they aren’t playing basketball. Best athletes almost always play basketball. Those are the positions you can’t great athletes at.animate said:

A lineman or LB wrestling? No problem. -
Wrestlers are some of the best fast twitch athletes out there.
You are aware that lots of football players wrestle instead of basketball and not just dline or oline types ...
There are lighter weight classes. -
Tevis Bartlett was a national champion wrestler. He was a nice football player for us, not sure I would classify him as fast twitch. In general, I think RD is correct on this. Basketball>wrestling for skill position football talent and those that guard skill positions, CB, LB.

Some of the most twitchy, explosive guys I knew growing up were good wrestlers, but they all played other sports too and eventually dropped wrestling because the season coincided with hoops. Most of the wrestlers that stuck with it were oafs on the court, played football in the fall but very poorly, and took golf (poorly) if they did anything in the spring.
