I’m debating weather to give Styx a second chance in the upcoming classic rock NIT.

I saw a TV concert of theirs that included The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight - great show.

This performance is from our 1996 “reunion” tour.

The song Lady appeared on Styx II and didn’t make much of an impact until a Chicago DJ decided to make it a hit by playing it every day in prime time in 1974 (two years after it came out). When that became a hit, we signed with A&M and made our first “real” record, Equinox.

It had some minor hits that would become bigger later (Lorelei, Suite Madam Blue, Light Up), but it was a disappointment.

One of our original members quit at that point, then we hired Tommy Shaw. Our next album I did nothing because I was depressed.

But the success of Lady led to us finding a strong musical direction that we would work in various forms until we were superstars after our 7/7/77 release of our 7th album, the Grand Illusion.
