- I do not give a crap what some administrator rates a player , coaches saws these players in their camps and offered , much better evaluations of talent than a site administrator. I still remember reading half the players taken in the first round of the NFL draft were 3 stars or less as HS seniors.
- It's about ATTITUDE not stars for me. tired of seeing 3* players on other teams with a Winning ATTITUDE out play many of our 4-5* ATTITUDE projects. ATTITUDE out performs Talent every time when Talent doesn't have a Winning ATTITUDE. A few of the 3* Trojans that have made USC proud include Clay Mathews Jr., Troy Polamalu, Josh Pinkard, who Pete Carroll identified as the "Best Football Player on the Team" in 2007 before his first ACL injury.
- My take is that basically you are not going to get many 4 or 5 Star kids to commit to a school coming off a 5-7 season and a coach on the hot seat. I believe we are grabbing some 3 Star kids now that show potential to be upgraded. The idea is to specifically grab 3 Star offense linemen who we basically wiffed on in the 2019 class. I believe Helton's idea is to at least establish a base of 7 or 8 kids early on so we don't get caught like last year in scrambling around at the last minute taking kids that we would not normally take just to fill our allotment. The idea is to hope that by us winning enough games the coming season that the 4 and 5 star kids will eventually throw their hat in the ring to round out the remaining 2/3's of the class. Of course if we don't have a winning season then Helton and the class will be up the creek. Unless he gets dismissed and replaced by a big named coach before the season ends and there is still time to attract the 4 and 5 star kids. It's ironic that our 2021 class actually is ranked much high than our 2020 class thus far.
- Would love to see more high end athletes at certain positions but the star ratings are overplayed. I’d rather 3 star that fit scheme than higher rates they want the scheme to be them. A balance is needed and last year’s class missed it from the athlete standpoint. Other classes missed from the attitude standpoint. Positive momentum has developed and they should lead to better recruiting. No need to be extreme on either side of the debate.
USC fans are hilarious right now. They've been let down so many times by 5 stars who get ruined by their shitty coaches they think the answer is to get a ton of try hard 3 stars because they 'want it more'.
SC just reeled in another 3 star recruit who seems like he has basic PAC12 offers but not too ones.
He has B grade film and moves well. Not a bad pick up for them. When it comes to finding and recruiting 3-star lineman, USC is easily doing way better than Oregon right now.
USC turned down the commitments of two players this week. Honolulu (Hawaii) three-star safety Alaka’i Gilman was ready to pop for the Trojans, and although he reported a scholarship offer from USC, we hear the Trojans passed on taking his pledge.
Interestingly, while USC covets Bijan Robinson, we hear that offensive guard and fellow Salpointe Catholic teammate Bruno Fina no longer has a “commitable” scholarship offer from USC. Fina wanted to make an official visit to USC this month, but according to him, the Trojans coaching staff said that they were not entertaining official visits this summer.
Well, when your own teammate is taking an official visit, the writing in on the wall. USC outlined its offensive line class during the camp circuit and it would seem like Fina is not currently a part of the coaching staff’s plans going forward.

I fully support it.

Three-star safety commits to WSU over USC, Oregon
Also, this made the cuogs forget that Jalen committed to UW the week before.
