Sure enough, Greene was wrapping up his freshman year of high school. He was hanging at a community pool in Oviedo, Fla., his suburban Orlando hometown, with a few friends. They were acting like typical teenagers in the summer, splashing around the pool, chunking a football from end-to-end, a little loud for the tastes of Johnson, who was reading a book and enjoying some relaxation while his wife and son were away visiting family.
Johnson thought he recognized one of the kids. He had started representing Orioles top prospect Ryan Mountcastle, who had just finished up his senior season at Oviedo’s Hagerty High School. Johnson had seen Hagerty play and already heard all about Riley Greene, the kid who committed to Florida in the fall of his freshman year, before he had ever played an inning of high school ball.
