I remember the media whipping up a racist frenzy against the Irish, it was sort of the first time I ever was forced to look at the media landscape with a more suspicious eye. Literally every Notre Dame person you ever talked to in real life or online celebrated the hire with aplomb, but the media and random fans of other programs kept screaming racism. Gods, I was so innocent then lol -
I remember when they hired Willingham, I was waiting in line for the husky hoops game, and they trotted him out with pizza or donuts for the students. Students were more excited for the food than the new coach.
