Apple lost because they did exactly what Microsoft did in the 90's and 2000's.

They assume everyone only wants to make native apple apps because apple dominates everyone in their mind.

Microsoft shifted to assume people want to make apps for every platform.

You at least need to pretend to embrace open source.
