Another great example of the religious left negatively impacting the quality of life for everyone

Well everyone who isn't a dirt bag with 72 previous criminal convictions.

This is the sort of thing that would only happen in Seattle (okay, maybe in Portland). A 55-year-old homeless man named Francisco Calderon punched a complete stranger in the mouth one day in November, giving him a bloody lip. The victim called 911 and Calderon was arrested and charged with assault. He pleaded guilty to the crime. That turned out to be his 72nd time being convicted of a crime, fourteen of those convictions were felonies. And yet, City Attorney Pete Holmes worked out a plea deal with Calderon’s public defender which would keep him out of jail. Instead, he would get probation and drug treatment. Enter Municipal Court Judge Ed McKenna whose job it was to sentence Calderon. McKenna wasn’t convinced no jail time was appropriate in the case and questioned the plea deal.

At one point in this country's history the men of the community would have tarred & feathered this scum prosecutor.

They also wouldn't have let some homeless piece of shit punch them in the mouth with no response other than pull out their phone.

And what's changed since then? Who is it that altered our judicial system to the point that we no longer prosecute crime?

Prosecutor Pete Holmes, just like every good leftist, sides with the criminal over the law-abiding citizen.
Or as the Chicago mayor would say: "Judge McKenna doesn't reflect the values of our city"...

Judge McKenna may be the last sane person in Seattle. Seattle will have to be razed and rebuilt from scratch to overcome its headlong drive to the bottom of the barrel.

Exactly, because the religious left has a faith based belief that the way to achieve lower crime rates is to coddle criminals and not enforce the law. The law is what creates crime and if the state were to show more "compassion" you could rehabilitate these criminals and turn them away from committing crimes. It's no different than the Religious right's belief that the devil causes people to be gay and that through prayer, you can turn people away from being gay. They are both faith based beliefs. The difference it the left actually has the power to impose that belief on people who reject it. The religious right doesn't have the power to do that to unwilling gay people.

I actually up-voted Benny in the Tug! What's happening!

The public really have no idea how prosecutors effect their lives. Their entire goal is to just get rid of any case that is not a slam dunk. Win rate helps them get re-elected or promote but how many cases they refuse to prosecute isn't really counted as a stat. They really don't give a damn about the public.

Here's a slam dunk and they don't want the guy in jail. That's just leftist ideology.

There has to be a sort of strange freedom in getting high, punching people, getting arrested, going to jail, confessing, and having that just be your thing.
