The fact that there are some Venezuelans who support the Commies and don't want the US to intervene in no way means there aren't Venezuelans who feel the opposite, or that the US doesn't have some responsibility.
I'm generally anti interventionism, but 3 million refugees in our own half of the world should be enough to get our attention.

That long-winded qualifier stated, I think our $$ would be better spent with a military-led "re-do" in Venuzuela than what we've tried to do in the middle east, a part of the world that is still truly tribal.
Oil exploitation in Venezuela is there, and of course, as @PurpleThrobber can demonstrate for us, and as I can tell you from personal experience (I swear!), Venezuela can export some nice ass.
