https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/436453-supreme-court-stays-execution-of-buddhist-inmate-in-texasThis is the second time recently that Trump's two appointees have been on different sides, or that Kavenaugh has joined the Libs
@HHusky linked to a Bama case that was similar in that they allowed a Christian pastor or whatever in the execution room but not the Muslim - he had to stand outside
Texas allows both the Christian and the Muslim but the inmate is Buddhist. Allegedly. Brent voted for the stay
There were a few voices on the right that said Brent isn't as conservative as you think but it got lost in the hysteria over him being a serial rapist
At any rate you never really know when a GOP President nominates a Supreme how it may turn out. It seems like the liberal block is lock step rock solid. Could be wrong

“A Texas state policy forbids chaplains who are not state employees from being in the same room when the execution is carried out.”
So was this Buddhist “spiritual adviser” a state employed chaplain? Some Buddhist traditions forbid their clergy (Theravada monks for example), from holding a job, so that would preclude them from being state employed chaplains. I can see where the waters might start to get a little murky.
In any case, they should change the rule to be you get one person of your choice to join you in the room to send you off. Not everyone is religious.
