When I lived in LA, my roomie and I became fascinated with bad lyrics. There are a lot... but almost nothing tops those early KISS records.

I'm a YUUUUGE KISS fan. My first record was Destroyer at 3 years of age... but I'm an Ace guy. Ace, Paul, Gene (I guess) and nogaf about Peter who is the shittiest drummer ever, but it's hard to be KISS without him. Anyway...

Get up, and get your grandma out of here
Baby, Old Jim is working hard this year
Baby, do the things I says to do...

    DO IT

    Baby if you're feeling good
    Baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is working hard...

    He's worth a deuce.

Honey, don't put your man behind his years
Baby, stop crying all the tears

    etc.

God they are fucking amazing. Pretty much anything Gene wrote before Bob Ezrin showed up was just phonetic ramblings.

Also without Ace KISS is a fucking disaster.

Ace is a disaster with or without KISS.

Dennis you ignorant slut, the best Kiss song was an Ace solo record and a cover to boot

Hard disagree. Best KISS song is probably Radioactive of Gene’s solo record. If it’s not that, it easily could be Parasite or Shock Me.

Gene is really weird. He writes fake Beatles songs vaguely about anal and then has them played by a mediocre (except for Ace) early heavy metal outfit.

    It’s a strange pairing.

    Other great KISS songs

Shout it Out Loud which has some of the GOAT lyrics... It doesn’t matter what you do or say, just forget the things that you’ve been told.

    Personal motto.

Cold Gin, Flaming Yourh, I Stole Your Love, King of the Night Time World, Calling Doctor Love, Detroit Rock City, Love Gun...

Paul didn’t totally come into his own until the 80s - his Marc Bolan copycat act was great, but really made more sense in the context of hair metal. Unfortunately, the world was not to fully appreciate his genius because KISS was old by then... but man he was made for churning out 80s Hair Metal hits...

Lick it Up, Heaven’s on Fire, Tears are Falling...

KISS was never supposed to become rock icons lasting decades. It was a teeny bopper band in the early 70's

I'm still amazed they became heavy metal icons. I could never take them seriously. But Lick it UP is irresistible

Gene Simmons was a better actor than musician/lyricist and he sucked at acting

I am in agreement that No Ace = no KISS. I dont care if Peter is there or not. While Tommy may be a nice guy, he just isn't Ace. Ace was just the coolest back then

I had cool uncles who let me listen to their albums as my mom hated KISS. My dad saw through it as a gimmick and guys in clown make up. My mom wouldn't let me go in '76. I would have been the coolest kid at Juanita Elementary had I gone

After Lick it Up, I kinda moved on for the next 13 or so years until 1996 and they reunited. Sure they may have one decent song on the those crap 80's albums, like Forever, (a song for girls to lose their virginity to with dignity and to make it special) but it just wasn't the same to me

We should have a "rank your favorite KISS album" thread?

At the height of their powers!
