Since then, ICE had issued four separate detainers for him related to various arrests including suspicion of driving under the influence, battery on a peace officer and unknown probation violations.
At the state level they already are refusing to turn these criminals over to ICE and at the Federal level they are trying to limit the number of detainees ICE can hold so that ICE doesn't deport people with DUIs.
Seriously, how is this any different than the old southern sheriffs and politicians who refused to cooperate with and enforce Federal law.

You bring up a point that is frankly stunning. How in the hell did we get to the point that some state and local governments openly violate federal immigration laws and law enforcement? I get that these governments are run by left wing wing nuts, but wow. And I get that the left have always been crafty in their use of branding to make the untenable tenable to the uniformed, but again, this? "Sanctuary cities" sound like utopias, but even the casual observer can see that in practice they are havens for very large numbers of law breakers, some extremely violent like this illegal alien "angel" from Mexico whom the left deemed worthy of sanctuary from US Federal Law.
