Obama was super self conscious when it came to what he said, you guys made fun it with the teleprompter comments. He just didn't have mannerisms and such that allowed to be ridiculed.
They did bag on Hillary. They didn't really bag on McCain, but they did Palin. I remember the skit on 08 bagging on the DNC, with how they handled the debate between Obama and Hillary. Bush was kinda like Trump but in a different way. They bagged the shit out of Bill Clinton.
I am not going to go through all the Obama skits. I'm sure you can find where they bagged on him. But I would say, like anything else, they are looking for ratings. Bagging on Trump gave them good ratings. Bagging on Obama didn't.
Re McCain, I saw a skit once that I haven't been able to find anywhere again. It was backstage at a debate, and the other candidates start laughing at McCain for something. But in McCain's mind, they transform into Viet Cong, complete with the conical hats and everything. Brutal and hilarious. Probably a good reason why it's not posted anywhere.

Eh, in fairness some Presidents are easier to poke at than others because, as one poster said, of a particular way of speaking or doing goofy shit. Not so much policy, but just who they are. They made fun of Ford for falling and really nothing else, they made fun of Bush I and II almost entirely because of their speech patterns: Bush I with his New England, stiff, nasally voice and the goofy way he used his hands when speaking, Bush II with his pretend-cowboy routine and goofy facial expressions, and also the Cheney-is-the-real-president angle. They poked at Carter for the way he spoke (Akroyd did JC) and they had him in all kinds of weird scenario shit that was funny and basically made fun of him for being southern and goofy. With Clinton they spared nothing and went straight after his womanizing and his fear of Hillary - they still do. They make fun of Hillary for being butch and overly serious. One could argue having Leslie Jones play Michelle Obama is its own lampoon. The stuff with Reagan wasn't very memorable, and ranged from harmless to poking fun at him for slipping at the end, but I don't recall SNL beating him up too much. I'm not going to pretend there isn't something to what you're saying ... we know that, generally, Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general - artists of a sort - lean left. There was probably a combination of that, and arguably Obama didn't give them as much material. Good speaker. Smart. Etc. And, if you want to criticize Obama, maybe that's the area: he was too careful and aside from healthcare one could argue he never really got into the game. He was kind of boring ...
