Definitely don’t think DDY is a “retard,” but agree this is not a C class. Considering the importance of defense in football, the class is at least a B.HillsboroDuck said:Good post until the end. There’s no fucking way this is a C class.
You’re a retard.
Can’t wait for the all caps response!!
Saying otherwise is buying into oregon’s logic that WRs are as important as DLs.

Don’t look at it that way. Of course everything is year by year case by case but because the average of the offense is so low it makes what is an A class into a C+ class because it’s not necessarily a grade on the players but a grade on what the maximum possibility was. It’s not just WR, it’s TE/RB/QB/OL. Missing one guy here and there can bring down the average of the defense that is amazing but a defense that still should’ve closed out Henry To’oto’o and Stephon Wright.Passion said:

How in the world is this a c class? A- at worst.
-
Sounds like people are requesting a way too long pod to get them through the snow
-
You literally said, let's not factor the complete failure on the offensive side in too much, because offense doesn't matter as much.Passion said:

But ok. -
No I didn’t, dipshit. How can you get those 4 OLs and a great RB and call it a complete failure?

Update now.

We only sucked at WR/TE recruiting, which are the two least important units for a winning football program. And now that Puka is in, WR recruiting all of a sudden doesn’t suck. So really we struck out at tight end, after taking 3 the last two classes. Calm the fuck down everyone.

What I meant to say was...
Actually now, this class turns into an B+. Puka is a huge deal. We go from getting a really substandard WR class in both numbers and talent, to an above average class in talent and average in numbers. Pretty big deal. Missing out on a TE doesn't seem like a huge deal and we will live as a program, but when evaluating the class - you have to be honest with yourself and realize we play about 1.66 TEs per play. Not getting 1 person and missing your top 6... sucks.
To compete with Bama, Ohio State, Clemson (which is what we are trying to do, by the way), we probably are really only two players off in this class... Ngata/Charbs and a TE.
It's not the greatest skill class on O ever, but at least we now have two big time guys there.
I fucking love Puka. Reminds me of Dante a bit but bigger. Also he has swag.
Fuck this is wonderful. -
Puka, while only one guy, changes the entire complexion (tried dimension first, then complexion, I cannot find the right word but fuck off because English isn't my first language anyway) of this class. Had we gotten a stud TE and one more legit RB this class is an A+. I have it as a B+/A- type class now, and probably our best ever. The issue with people is they say "This is our best class ever so it is an A+!" The problem with that is Bama exists. You have to view our class in the landscape of college football as a whole.Dennis_DeYoung said:What I meant to say was...

Yes, it is an A+ UW type class, but for Bama, Ohio State, etc. it's a nice B+ type class, and that's who it should be judged against, because that is who we have to play to win a CFP game or two.
I am still dooging hard as fuck though, because this class proves that with just a couple (literally two) more pieces we can have a legit top 5 class. -
edit: Fire PaoPao now!

There is no possible way one recruit is worth more than a full letter grade himself (unless he's maybe Trevor Lawrence), but I agree it's a huge pickup. Gives us like an A- class to me with the only real weaknesses TE (which I agree is a big fail) and QB (where we are as stacked as can be now and going forward).Dennis_DeYoung said:What I meant to say was...

Shocked we pulled Puka and absolutely thrilled. He's not Ngata/Bru but he's right there with Ford IMO. I love him.
He's Golden Tate with a receiver's background. -
he right that Pao Pao needs to pick it up. His only really great recruiting win is...Hunter Bryant? He's amazing don't get me wrong but I'm not giving tons of credit for an in state pick up, unless it's a Savell/JT level guy, who we usually lose.WeakarmCobra said:

So - I think it's just depending on how you grade things... but I think he really changed things around for this class. For instance - just add NKeal Harry to our 2017 class - it would have been a HUGE difference. I don't think Puka is as good as NKeal, but we had neither number nor quality and Puka fixed that in one recruit. So, a lot of times - one recruit can matter if he is positioned correctly.HillsboroDuck said:

But I see what you're saying.
This class is basically 3 players away from being an A+ - Ngata, Charbonnet and Rae. So Even though we are all happy with this, next year we could potentially break through this and hit that kind of class if we don't fuck it up. -

I haven't been able to watch much of Ngata or Puka at all but in the Under Armour game I was much more impressed with Puka than Ngata. That probably means nothing.HillsboroDuck said:

To me, it signaled a win at closing tim against what may have been some shady dealings. That's big. Especially after we thought we had done that with Kaho and then didn't.HillsboroDuck said:

It's moar than the player, it's what it says about the program and trajectory. It's(to a lesser degree) Pete managing to get Budda to stay home in the 11th hour. It's not the one player. It's what it signifies. -
Puka was the All-American Bowl Offensive MVP as well as the Poly Bowl Offensive MVP.DuckHHunterisafag said:
