Latu ran a 4.28 shuttle...GreenRiverGatorz said:
Sure, but there's no doubt that a 270 pound high schooler has a lot of work to do if he's going to become a truly elite edge rusher instead of the 5T kind of player that his body type seems more suited for at the moment. A 270 pounder is never going to move like Kikaha did.backthepack said:Latu has a lot of baby fat right now and he’s still explosive as fuck.

IMO you can see he's a bit slow to get going on his first step off of the dline but I think that's more coaching/scheme, awareness, or him taking time to diagnose(which can all be improved). If you look at his acceleration and change of direction on offense he's much quicker. Fuck me on his rugby highlights too.
The athleticism is there. It just needs connection to his play. -
His highlights at TE are great. He and Heimuli are both impressive offensive players. Hammer would be an excellent big back.UW_Doog_Bot said:backthepack said:

If you are seriously comparing Latu and Benning kill yourself.

Fat is fine if you carry it well. Not everyone genetically gets to walk around super shredded all the time.backthepack said:Latu has a lot of baby fat right now and he’s still explosive as fuck.

Yeah but the thing is he’s gunna put on a lot of muscle. He already carries his frame well.CuntWaffle said:

Benning still didn't have the kind of acceleration or change of direction that Latu displays. You can have good TE highlights without those things.NorwegianHusky said:

Latu would run, jump and cut circles around Potoae blindfolded with his ankles tied together.NorwegianHusky said:

Jimmy’s comments about LB stand outs. Watching the film, Brandon Wellington was huge coming down the stretch and basically put Tevis Bartlett out of his job because of how good of a matchup he can be in the passing game. Even the TD against Ohio State that went just past his finger tips was a good rep for him as far as responsibility and executing drops at a much higher level than BBK next to him.
But who will play next to him is all dependent on how much longer Pete is willing to ride DJ Beavers, or if he wants to rotate MJ, Jackson, and UD to start the year and stick with who plays the best. Calvert would be my pick out of all the freshman who could see the field the earliest just based off physical maturity, but I don’t see any of those guys, or frankly want any of those guys give up their RS.
