The coaches with the best chance to be high on the list are new. Chip, Herm, Wilcocks

We know the rest and they suck

The top six of Pete, Shaw, Leach, Whitt, Kelly, and Wilcox are legit. Cristobal would be closer if he didn’t go full Sark at year-end. Jury is still out on Herm. Meanwhile Helton, Sumlin, and Smith are all jokes with expiration dates. Who knows where Tucker will fit in.

Cristobal is actually the exact opposite of Sark in that he actually tries and run it too much.

I recently sat down with a Cal Bear football expert who told me what a mess Sonny Dykes had left behind. Wilcocks has cleaned it up and improved recruiting and taken Cal from a team who gave up 66 to UW to a team that beat UW and USC in the same season and at the end of the season was a far better team with the second best defense in the Pac

Its too soon to rate him real high but his trajectory is on track and the raise seems deserved

Pete is #1 because he out David Shawed David Shaw and is the 2 out of 3 champ. This ranking could continue to flip or flop over the next few seasons. Shaw's pre Petersen body of work is impressive

    Nobody else matters. edit

I do think Chip will get it done but he hasn't yet. He could matter. Leach does more with less (hi @iDawg ). Wittingham is a worth first loser.

    "lol"

I am very pleased with this development. Wilcox "gets" Cal, and he understood coming in that if he showed them he could coach, they'd open their wallets for him (Cal did the same with early Tedford). Going forward he has some tough decisions to make with the offensive coaching staff - at this poont I think Baldwin is safe at OC, but he'll be on the hot seat if he can't improve the offense next year. Tui (QB) and Edwards (WRs) might be out of a job soon; neither coach's units made any improvements over the course of the year.

    Pete
    Shaw
    Chip*

    Leach
    Whit

    Wilcox
    Herm

    Cristoball
    Helton
    Smiff
    Sumlin

Can't rank the Colorado guy yet. One more season of improvement could see Wilcox jump up to Leach and Whit status. Chip gets a * because he has proved it in the past and in dominant fashion, but still in LIPO mode to see if it works at UCLA.

    Herm WAY TOO fucking high.

Tucker has plans to not recrit California and open up Georgia and Florida.

So yeah. Just thrw him at the bottom
Yeah, you just made that shit up about California.

"Working at Alabama and Georgia the past four years, Tucker has done most of his recruiting in the south, but said he is well aware that Colorado, California and Texas are major recruiting areas for CU.

"We plan to keep those pipelines and actually enhance those pipelines and make them even stronger," he said. "The west coast, California, Texas, Louisiana are critical. A program such as this has to recruit nationally and let's not forget our own state. There are tremendous players here and we have to make sure we keep them home and we'll do everything we can do to do that."

I think leach is the second best coach in the league, given he get the most win out of the roster he has. No one does more than he in this league. He beat Shaw 3 years in a row I think
