Is this the reason USC decided to keep Clay Helton?

They kept him because some UW fans threw on their capes on Twitter and hashtagged their way to victory.

I have a good looking cape

The buyout isn't an issue. The USC alumni $ pool is insane. Swann is just an idiot. I have an ex gf who is a USC alum who could cover the buyout by herself if she wanted

I understand your point and while I do agree money isn't an issue, it will be an issue when during a sex scandal in the medical department the President spends funds on a buyout of a football coach. This is their downside of hiring a "wholesome" coach when they need a new "wholesome" image. This will gibe the appearance to the #METOO movement that they only care about football.
SC is still in the middle of a big capital campaign. Hard to axe for mo' money and turn around and spend it on mo' problems ... especially football and sexual problems.

Sad for them they'll have to fork over 9 figures up front for the settlement then possibly a maximum of $250,000 to each individual case with the doctor in question

There's no president to oversee all this

Surprisingly under-played point in this scenario.

You can't be expected to fire a coach who came 3rd in the pac 12 south
