Real question, if the federal government owns the majority of CA forests, does it still fall on state agencies to manage the federal lands using federal money?
Psycopathy of the tweet aside, if forest management of federal lands is the issue I dont see how threatening to pull federal funding is a solution. Per Slegdogs link (yes I read a Daily Caller link), if this goes back to the Clinton administration, then everybody has fucked it up for the last 18 years? Where is the fix?

This. Why don't we stop throwing shit around and blaming everyone and figure out a way to fix this, or at least minimize it. Every fucking year it's the same shit down there. Fire after fire after fire. Don't let people rebuild in fire zones, or cut away the underbrush, or I don't know what? But whatever we have been doing isn't working for shit.

It's pretty fucking simple. If you don't log/clear the underbrush and dead shit, mother nature has a way of clearing out the scrub on managing the forest on her own.
If you log, the underbrush gets cleaned up, the old logs get carted off and new seedling are planted. There's limited kindling for the big ass fires. I'm sure during @RaceBannon's youth (and then even through the Throbber's slightly younger youth), we? didn't have all these massive fires because folks like Weyerhauser and Potlatch and thousands of local loggers cleaned up the shit.
Failing to proactively manage the forest lands is as stupid as not rebuilding the levys around New Orleans after Katrina. Those motherfuckers got re-built properly because hurricane is a risk of living below sea level (kind of stupid, but I digress). As long as we? want to live near forested lands, massive fires are inevitable unless the scrub is cleared out. It's going to get cleared out one way or the other.
The fix is to repeal alot of the shitty "protections" put in place during the Clinton/Obama years. Forestry management and USFS co-existed fine between the Big Burn era (War Gifford Pinchot!) and that point.

Wood and woods, too.
