I thought that Petersen has the chance to be better than Don James

There is room for improvement on that record. The OP in this thread was more about realizing and changing than wanting to be just like Don James

But James could sit in Beno Bryant's house in South LA while gunfire was going on next door and CLOSE the fucking deal

DJ didn't close on the guys we? needed to win a NT until he'd been the coach here for 13 or 14 seasons.

Chris Petersen is at UW for the money of a big school without the pressure to win.

“It’s hard in this league” used to be cute until the players believed it.

James wasn’t perfect but aspired to be. When he lost, he reinvented himself and his team. Pete not so much.

The Built for Life schtick carries enough cache to attract enough good players for 8-10 wins (with a shit shchedule) but not enough great ones by keeping Bob Gregory or holding on to Stausser or Pease an extra year.

This bored skewered Woodward for keeping Ty 1 year too long but Doogs, the majority of UW s fan base, give Pete a pass because he’s white and gives good soundbites.

Pete looks more and more like a slightly better Sark without the booze problem, and good for an extra win per season

Comparing Pete to Ty and Sark?

    Am I being whooshed?

Nope. Pete holds on to underperforming recruiters at the program’s expense, giving a big fuck you to the fans/donors.

Pete won with Sarks players. He’s 1-3 in Bowl games. Outside of his signature win at home against an injury ridden Stanford, he’s never won a big game. 5 years and counting.

This year, UW is 9-3 if they win out—doubtful.

9-3 or 8-4 in this league with this shit schedule? That’s Sarkish.

The players, in growing numbers, are already rumbling.

    Pete’s a charlatan.

When the doogs start ripping James to cover for the current coach its time to start the search for a new one

UW can lose three this year and make the Rose Bowl

And if we? do I'll call it a success

    This.

Doog James ripping is why many in the fan base deserve a reincarnation of Willingham. Bow Down to Petersen? It may be the beginning if he inflexibly doesn't change his attitude and approach.
    STOp.

Pete has been bad this year but there's no possible world where he should be compared to Ty.
    he just needs more tim

    To win a title? Sure.

To prove he's a couple tiers above Sarkingham? Not at all.

Fucking Kreist. The evidence is in that we will compete for PAC titles year in year out with Peterman in spite of all that we bitch about. Gilby Sark Ty never even got a whiff of a PAC title.

We need to be on Pete like shit on stink to get us to the CFP finals. This is fine. But comparing him to 2001- 13 Washington makes no sense.

I'm not happy with Pete's shtick either. But pull your head out of your ass. Road blowouts were common as fuck under Sark, and a 9+ win team is substantially better than a 7 win team, since wins in conference matter way more than non-conference cupcakes. Pete is head and tails better than Sark, but the conference, recruiting and especially his QB play isn't static so the improvement has to be continuous.

Sark and Pete aren't even in the same league. That's just fucking stupid.

Sark was a 5-4 or 4-5 league coach. You can look it up. Better than Owen 12 but not good enough. And not close to Peterson

Don James hasn't been at UW in 25 years. You'd think he left yesterday lol

I think the issue is that we all know Pete is great coach, problem his team been too inconsistent to prove that he is great coach
