Not really a novel, but the guy from The Most Dangerous Game is my idol. I'd love to live on an island and hunt people.

Also, LotR is the GOAT. Lord of the Flies is also good.

Always took you to be a Hardy Boys guy
What? Why? I don't understand this post.

Had to read that shit for AP English my junior year. No one bothered to tell us that the first part was the perspective of a full blown retard and that shit would actually make sense later on. I. Could. Not. Read. It. Tried to push through a number of times, finally gave up. Only time I ever bought Cliffs Notes. Passed the test with an A. Never went back and actually read it.

    Fuck Faulkner.

Ahh. Now is when you go back and reread it. 1st time through for me I had the same reaction. after the end of the 2nd reading it dawned on me what the fuck was going on. Third read is where the magic happens.

    I can't read.

I'm guessing you've just memorized the labels on the bottles of fire water, or you do your best Todd Graham and just get by.

I’m sorry, but Catch 22 is a massive piece of shit. The larger theme is ruined by the incessant puns. It basically reads like a Dr Seuss book without the trippy illustrations crossed with some Marx Brothers camp. This is like Dexter for me; everyone else seems to love it, and I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. But that’s just me.

I was in junior high when I read it so the puns were the best part

You can't see the Major now because he is in his office

    When can I see him?

    When he is not in
Yeah. 300 pages of that could never get old.

    Unless you’re in middle school.

    I rest my case.

I'm not going to downvote you because that's like your opinion man, but I want you to know you're wrong.

It’s the 3 Stooges of literature.

It’s fine if you like it.

But I just hated it. Still do apparently.

Shame on all the HHB book club alumni that are here and not a single mention of Blood Meridian.

I wonder why I wouldn't mention Blood Meridian. I wonder. Jerk.
