Good for BBK. He has been consistent at getting to the ball carrier and getting the ball carrier down in some fashion. ... I still think he lacks the speed and strength for the position but knowing my luck, he'll probably have a long career in the NFL making millions, proving me wrong, and I'll shoot myself knowing this while I slave away working with the dregs of society. I was just about to compare him to Luke Kuechly, because white, but then see Kuechly is 6'3, not 6'0.
-
He's always in position. He just overruns and tackles too high, piggyback style, resulting in 6 yard gains instead of 2.
-
"Break-down and contain" are not in his lexicon.

I don’t get people questions his speed, he’s got great range.huskyhooligan said:Good for BBK. Definitely agree he doesn’t have the strength for the position at the next level. It’s a weakness at this one. -
See above. He's got great speed, but it's arguably overused, making him vulnerable to routine and simple blocks, or getting juked as he overruns the play. Not as bad as Psalm, but reminiscent of him at times. Taking on a block and plugging a gap doesn't happen with BBK.HillsboroDuck said:

What's more is the fact that opposing teams all know how to take advantage of, or neutralize BBK, because he doesn't possess the size and strength to shed blocks, so he has to run around them. He is what he is.

I don’t get the Psalm comps at all. Psalm would get juked out of his shoes. BBK is always in the right spot and always makes the tackle. He just too often goes for a ride before he does.TurdBuffer said:

I’ve never seen him do anything that reminded me of Psalm. -
Psalm took terrible angles right from the snap and over-shot potential tackles constantly.HillsboroDuck said:

BBK gets pushed outside and off his line frequently - although much less this year than last - by using his speed to try and circle around the blockers to get to the RB. He frequently gets a hand on the RB, but has to ride him for 6 yards to wrap up and tackle him, usually high on his body.
BBK plays hard and affects the game, so he's doing his part the best he can. But the tackling stats are misleading as to his effectiveness in actually defending and stopping opposing RBs. He slows them down but never plugs a hole or busts through the DL like Rapp can do.
Bottom line is this: BBK is a linebacker who can't blitz. And despite his maximum effort, UW pays a price for it. Like UW did with Psalm, a lot. -

I'll say this...BBK is playing better than I expected, and has been fine (I know, I know...) But having a million tackles as a MLB is not indicative of shit. See Dennison, Cort.
I'd like to see him create some havoc for offenses but I don't think that's his game. -
Probably gonna make a damn good living playing special teams in the NFL. Bigger version of Steve Tasker.
-
BBK is a "good" player becauseTurdBuffer said:He's always in position. He just overruns and tackles too high, piggyback style, resulting in 6 yard gains instead of 2.
- he's the best that we have right now for the position
- he plays the system well and the coaches know lesser of two evils. They would rather have someone predictable and able to gameplan rather than someone unreliable but makes the occasional spectacular tackle or play.
- he makes contact and tackles but he doesn't have anywhere ideal size and influence to make the tackle/player go backwards thus the need for gangtackling.
If BBK had the size and weight he'd be luke Kuechly or rueben foster if he was black and had bad tattoos. -
He's forced 3 fumbles and I feel like there was a 4th that was called back.justthrowitinthebag said:I'll say this...BBK is playing better than I expected, and has been fine (I know, I know...) But having a million tackles as a MLB is not indicative of shit. See Dennison, Cort.

BBK is the best defensive player in the conference. If he weighed 20 more pounds he would be the best in the nation -
He also deflected one of Herbert's passes @ the line of scrimmage that Rapp should've intercepted.Neighbor2972 said:

BBK is good this year, playing as best he can. But there are obvious limits to his abilities in certain areas of standard linebacking. Like shedding blockers, like breaking through on a blitz. If he had a partner on every play, like Hoffman had Clifford, they could compensate for each others deficiencies. But our LBs haven't played that way since Pete & Kwat arrived.

BBK will be drafted in the 4th round or better. He's one of the best linebackers in the country.
-
He's a great athlete. But that's serious doog territory you're in.Crawfish said:BBK will be drafted in the 4th round or better. He's one of the best linebackers in the country.

Fine, he's one of the best senior linebackers in the country. Satisfied?TurdBuffer said:

I'm sensing some serious newness on your part. Don't get offended, but I don't play the "he's either great or he sucks" game, because I can walk and chew gum at the same time. Welcome to nuance. He's great in some respects, but lacking in others. He makes a lot of tackles, for example, which is good. But he frequently gets carried 5 to 7 yards downfield as he makes that tackle, which isn't good, but may be the best he can do because of his size, weight, strength and technique.Crawfish said:

The overall point is to build a team of players that can match up and stomp the fuck out of every other team in the conference and nation when the opportunity presents itself. UW has lost games where BBK was completely neutralized in a way that other LBs would not be. ASU and Stanford in 2017. Similarly, UW has lost games where Jake shit himself to the point of paralysis, and we've lost games where kickers haven't made very make-able kicks.
Returning to the point, right now UW has a lighter than normal linebacker in BBK, which helps him be faster and cover more field, but denies him the strength, size and force to pin opposing RBs in the backfield, shed blocks and drive opposing RBs backward instead of getting dragged 5 to 7 yards downfield. If you think he's one of the best Senior LBs in the country, suit yourself. You're entitled to your opinion. IMO, as much as BBK contributes, our linebacking corps is not the strength of our defense, as it has been throughout Husky football history. That's not BBK's fault, that's failed recruiting. Call him whatever you want. I really don't care. But the awards and notoriety BBK is getting right now is from people who mostly read stats and can't STFU and watch the games. -
He's got a high revving motor, a lunch pail guy, the kind of guy you want your daughter to date, a film room guy, very cerebral player.
-
No chance BBK gets drafted. I am not sure he is good enough for the XFL.Crawfish said:BBK will be drafted in the 4th round or better. He's one of the best linebackers in the country.
