IThere has been a lot of talk on the bored's lately about the new style of ball that has graced the Pac-12 this year. A known football expert has given us a German style Blitzkrieg that none of us were ready for to start the season. No one knew what it would be like to have an SEC West in our midst. Having taken all of us by storm, this SEC style team has finally taken a break to regroup before they commence their assault on the rest of the Pac-12.
Now I know this team has only played 2 games out 5 in conference, but with UCLA being a shit team and myself being drunk, I decided to dive a little deeper into what this new SEC ball has looked like in the PAC.
S&P+ has Oregon as the #81 Defense in CFB. Yikes.... Is that how the SEC does it? Maybe a basic statistical breakdown will help:
Defensive Statistic (National Ranking / Pac12 Ranking):
Yards per game - 347 (39th / 4th)
Pass yards per game - 238.2 (84th / 9th)
Rush yards per game - 108.6 (24th / 2nd)
Points per game - 24.4 (60th / 7th)
For reference, Oregon's Opponents have ranked 102nd, 97th (PSU would rank there amongst FBS teams), 95th, 88th, and 77th in PPG scored.

As for the Offense, S&P+ has Oregon as the #17 Offense in CFB. Here is a basic statistical breakdown:

Pass yards per game - 287.6 (26th / 2nd)
Rush Yards per game - 216 (32nd / 2nd)
Points per game - 45.6 (10th / 1st)
For reference, Oregon's Opponents have ranked 129th, 124th (PSU would rank there amongst FBS teams), 118th, 22nd, and 63rd in PPG allowed.

@UW_Doog_Bot here is a chart that shows how Oregon has faired in regards to their Opponents PPG averages:

In all fairness, Oregon's offense has statistically been great thus far. However they have played 3 of the worst 20 teams in PPG allowed, another at the exact middle of CFB, and one upper tier team.
That defense however, is anything but SEC style. 81st in S&P+ and 60th in PPG allowed against 5 teams that rank worse than 77th in Offensive PPG.
Yeah..... SEC West running roughshod in the lowly Pac-12 with their SEC ball.
Comments
S&P+ has Washington as the #2 Defense in CFB. For a team that doesn't play SEC ball, being second to only Alabama is rather surprising. Perhaps a basic statistical breakdown will help tell the story of what it's like to not be an SEC West team:
Defensive Statistic (National Ranking / Pac12 Ranking):
Yards per game - 281 (10th / 3rd)
Pass yards per game - 155.2 (8th / 2nd)
Rush yards per game - 125.8 (40th / 4th)
Points per game - 11.6 (1st / 1st)
For reference, Washington's Opponents have ranked 54th, 102nd (North Dakota would rank there amongst FBS teams), 109th, 60th, and 115th in PPG scored.

As for the Offense, S&P+ has Washington as the #26 Offense in CFB. Surprising considering how poorly the team has converted in the redzone. Here is a basic statistical breakdown:
Offensive Statistic (National Ranking / Pac12 Ranking)
Yards per game - 438.8 (51st / 6th)
Pass yards per game - 273.4 (41st / 4th)
Rush Yards per game - 165.4 (81st / 8th)
Points per game - 28.8 (73rd /7th)
For reference, Washington's Opponents have ranked 3rd, 50th (North Dakota would rank there amongst FBS teams), 14th, 22nd, and 63rd in PPG allowed.

So, while they may not play SEC ball and has not played an offense better than 54th in the country, Washington has essentially suffocated every team they've played to be one of the top 2 defenses in the country.
The offense has been mediocre at best, but when faced with 3 defenses in the top 22, and then two more in the middle of CFB, there have been no cupcakes to run up the score on.
Also, BlitzFag has been on his week long peacock feather puff about how SEC ball is here. So I decided to take a look.
Yet even with playing those shitty teams: BGSU, PSU, SJSU..... There is zero SEC ball to be found. So when drunk, POAST!
sec is big fast strong stupid
big 12 is small fast weak stupid
b1g is big slow strong smart
acc is mediocre of all traits
p12 is small slow weak smart
conclusion oregon is big 12 why are they being called sec
Utah State has a better offense than UW.
You'll see SEC ball on Oct. 13th.
I'll stay for the 4th quarter then
