Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father

insinceredawginsinceredawg Member Posts: 5,117
The president has long sold himself as a self-made billionaire, but a Times investigation found that he received at least $413 million in today’s dollars from his father’s real estate empire, much of it through tax dodges in the 1990s.

President Trump participated in dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents, an investigation by The New York Times has found.

Why didn't the IRS or the State of New York ever file charges against Trump if he had engaged in "outright fraud?"

They were asleep at the wheel. They are looking into it now after the NYT story dropped.

Because this country’s justice system has never prioritized white collar crime

Trump has never been audited? Somehow I doubt that.

How many Wall Street Bankers went to jail while Obama was President? And what does Chelsea Clinton's husband do for a living?

Everybody worships the Mighty Green Jesus, and politicians are the most hypocritical and corrupt in their religious devotion to it, regardless of which side of the aisle they stand on.

Seriously, wake the fuck up. If Trump was ducking law enforcement, he was probably doing it by greasing the palms of elected officials. We are talking NYC, after all.

If you measure dumb voters as those voters who are ignorant on the issues, the Rat party wins the votes nearly every election.

Sure, but a lot of voters voted for him because they believed he was a self made man who turned a "small loan" from his father into a billion dollar empire. This story further proves what the majority have known for years, Donny boy is a corrupt con man.

One con man wants to lower my taxes, the other, a con woman wants to increase my taxes. Who do you think I'm voting for?

yeah, this is the last thing any group wants to focus on too much. people all over the political spectrum are guilty of tax evasion and of being in bed with Wall Street operatives.

Tax evasion and tax avoidance aren't the same thing. We know that Trump has been audited numerous times. How did NY state and the IRS miss this?

Yes, I know Bob. I spend a good portion of my year structuring things to enable the latter. But I appreciate the clarification.

How? Boy, I just don't know. Audits always seem to work in my experience.

You're working too hard here. Even an enthusiastic Trump supporter knows he's not a clean guy. Hell, that's part of his appeal to a lot of people.

We don't need a long and drawn out debate on this one. I'm sure that Trump has operated in ways that are not within the letter of the law, and I'm sure he's done worse than that. I'm also not sure I care.

Cease having a corrupt IRS and a Congress that enacts dodgy tax laws and you'll cease having people that make their money on those things. Statists don't want to think of the government as being the source of corruption though.
