The gigantic matchups continue in the CMT Region (who said that the matchups in this region were soft???) with as divergent of artists as you can get in the game changing Dixie Chicks versus the phenomenon known as Chris Stapleton.
Dixie Chicks
To say that the Dixie Chicks are unique is an understatement but that really takes away from their accomplishments as artists. Despite taking close to 10 years off, their success is staggering since taking the world by storm in 1998 with 35 major awards, over 30 million records sold, and being the biggest all-female group in Country Music history. Add to that their strong political beliefs and integration of that into their music (much of which are typically at odds with the traditional listener demographic of Country Music listeners) is a testament to their impact.

To say that Chris Stapleton isn't your typical Country Music superstar is an understatement as he didn't "make it" as a performer until he was 37. Sure, he was a successful songwriter with over 170 songs that he wrote or co-wrote include 6 #1's with various artists ranging from Luke Bryan to George Strait to Adele. But it's his 2 albums to-date that have him on this list. "The Traveller" released in 2015 set the industry on fire and cleaned up on most major awards that year. His follow-up "From a Room: Volume 1" released in early 2017 delivered and also won Album of the Year. While it could be argued that others had far stronger long-term resumes and deserved inclusion ahead of Stapleton, the strength of his first two albums is arguably as strong as anybody in the history of Country Music. This is the definition of quality over quantity.
