Another artist that could easily be a 1 seed and a favorite to go deep in the field. You want swagger … Waylon's got it. You want a guy that destroyed his body … Waylon's your man. You want a guy that narrated a television show … Waylon's got that audience too.

Linda Ronstadt
To some, this may be a surprise entry in the bracket as Rondstadt's crossed over many genres throughout her career. However, her work in the 1970s was decidedly Country (rock) and produced arguably her greatest work in her career. The music is some of the most powerful to come out of that era and if you're not familiar with it, it's definitely worth a listen

Ronstadt's vocals are a powerhouse but one of the things I guess I didn't realize until putting this together is how much of her stuff was really covers of others. There's a double edge sword to that because when you cover work of others it better be damn good or you get criticized for it and her stuff was damn good and in some ways took those songs as her own. But for those that really get bent out of shape at not writing your own stuff, she's not going to be a favorite for that crowd.
