Most country music historians and expurts would have Merle, at worst, as like the #3 artist of all tim in the genre's history. He was that important. And yet here he is losing to Dwight.

There are no rules to how one should vote in these things. I voted Stones over Beatles in the Rock BOTB, but no band was ever close to the Beatles in overall importance and influence.
