You want proof we are leveling up?

Auburn enrolled 70 x four and five star recruits in the past 5 cycles. Not sure how many they have "in progress" at present but it's way more than us. They have recruited at an elite level for quite a while.

We have 35 four and five stars in progress and the bulk are from the past couple of classes.

So we went across the country to SEC land and held our own against a far more talented opponent in spite of not having a difference maker at the QB position.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll but we are inching closer and closer.

If this program really were leveling up, Pete would find his balls and bench Jake.

We should be ahead of where we were two years ago but we're aren't. Pete is bad at dealing with personnel. If he misevaluates someone, like Browning or Gregory, he doesn't react and fix the mistake. This is a personality flaw (for his position) he refuses to overcome.

He also refuses to play from a position of dominance but that wasn't the problem last week.

    It is what it is.

    Loyalty (and stubbornness)

Pete expects and gives loyalty (or at least more than your average coach)

Its all part of his okg philosophy.

So, brownsocks is what he is. A honda accord and we want Ferrari.

Pete is going to go with the honda until the insurance runs out and we're going to level up to an acura next time.

Pete is slow and methodical which infuriates ddy and most of us. Takes awhile for him to let the strausser types go in order to level. But that's him.

Would you guys rather have Herm?

Every corch, even the HOF guys, are stubborn knuckleheads make stupid play calls and dumb personel decisions. You think Gus is a better coach than Pete? Talent is the great insurance policy against bad decisions.

My point with this poast isn't to let Pete off the hook and say we played a good game and got a moral victory. Rather, it's to say from the eye test (fuck) perspective we are looking like a better program than a few years ago.

I saw no difference from the 2016 team.

I think we leveled up a lot in a short period of time but we're still where we were when we played Alabama. All talent gaps must be filled before we level up again.

Talent is trending up for sure but the same old problem positions remain. Line backers and pass rushers are nowhere to be found(granted Eifler and Kaho leaving fucked us but still). Offensive play calling is atrocious. If not for graduating Pete would probably start Jake at QB until he is 40 if he could... the same problems remain with no real sign that they're getting fixed. This team is good enough to shit stomp the pac 12 this year which will have the doogs popping off but we'll get drilled in our bowl game against a non-pretender of an elite program.

Well if we aren't improving then what the fuck are we doing with Petersen? Lets get it over with and fire him and go get a coach who can win the big game.

This is what a top 5 coach would do. A top 20 coach just wants to get enough wins to ensure his job security. A NY6 bowel loss and a playoff appearance is a good time buyer. He needs more time to get that next playoff loss.

I would stick it out with Peterman. He's the best UW can do. And he is a really good coach.
